  1. The wind is roaring up here still. Models don't seem to handle East Wind well at all.
  2. The east winds are quite intense right now, actually. I saw that they put a wind advisory up.
  3. I was thinking more snow-wise. Puget Sound had the most intense northerly wind event in a long time, followed by an insane convergence zone dropping over a foot of snow in areas. Cold in addition. I’m sure the W. Valley got something, but I don’t think what we got was as impressive as that or the crazy anomalous temperatures in CA. Unless PDX and south did get a lot of snow, in which case I’ve been reading too much about only the WA aspect of that event.
  4. I don’t feel it was as impressive in OR and CA as it was up in Washington.
  5. 1985, 1990, and 1996 were all major Puget Sound events though. FAR less impressive in Portland and south.
  6. Monster is a word I haven’t heard in a very long time in relation to our weather. Maybe some day. I wish I could go somewhere to find some interesting weather, but I’ll have to settle for this weak east wind instead.
  7. Sounds fun (..ish). I'd take even that over this overcast/partly sunny PACNW nonsense.
  8. Will you look at that, the East Coast gets slammed this run. But we can enjoy our overcast 40-degree weather while living vicariously through Boston traffic-cams.
  9. I guess. I have no authority to speak on this further, as I'm hardly familiar with agricultural practices, but I know drought is bad for other purposes too. With the relative wetting W. Washington's been getting, the fire season definitely could be a concern as well.
  10. Question, was this place around back in 2008? I heard someone mention the excitement of the snowstorms on here back then, and was wondering if there was a way to look back at some sort of archives and live vicariously through the past. Is there any way to do so?
  11. I mean, the people in Eastern Oregon and Washington sure do matter, drought is bad for agriculture. Yes, a lot of it is still "abnormally dry" but if we go into the spring and summer like this it could prove bad. Do remember that even with the very wet 2016-2017 fall/winter we still had a ridiculously dry summer enough to push us into moderate/severe drought category.
  12. The GFS had little problem with the low pressure systems in mid-December and late November, while EURO and NAM were either much too powerful or switched their outputs more in accordance with the GFS last minute.
  13. I'm surprised at how bad the GFS was, considering it has been decently accurate this winter/fall.
  14. The east wind on Wednesday doesn't seem that strong to me taken at face value on Tropical Tidbits.
  15. I don't know if I missed it, but what were your thoughts on the 1/6 windstorm last week? Did it behave according to expectation?
  16. Perhaps I should have asked whether the Willamette Valley got any interesting weather. Would have gladly taken that windstorm.
  17. It's ridiculous. What interesting weather have we seen this winter except 1/6/19 so far?
  18. Watch the rest of the country get slammed this winter while we get left with the usual.
  19. SoCal is primed for 5-8 inches of rain (conservatively) through the end of this upcoming week. Don't worry, I know Redding isn't in SoCal.
  20. To think I’m jealous of SoCal for having interesting weather. I’d have never thought that SoCal was the place that would pull at my heartstrings. What a sad excuse for a winter.
  21. So true. Either things go north, or they go south.
