    Well, let's hope for better 00z runs I suppose. Maybe we'll finally see that fated compromise solution-- the Euro and GEM solution was good.

    I wouldn't bet on it or anything, but it's worth noting models did something very similar in the days before the big February 2021 storm before shifting back south gradually. One can hope!

    Would be a biblical ice storm at face value this run.

    Obviously the north jump isn't great but ICON is also notoriously awful at precip type-- at face value it would be ice or snow for the metro.

    Morning models look good for PDX, pretty classic winter storm signature. GFS is toeing it pretty close but there's some room for positive adjustments

    Some nasty potential w this one all of a sudden. I'd take a drive up home but I'd be scared of not getting back down here for at least a few days.

    Reminds me a teeny tiny bit of December 2016 actually. Probably a bit colder but cold air stuck around for so long that a quarter inch of ice turned into 1+ inch for many east metro spots.

    Better run but yikes at that ice storm, in any scenario it also takes a while longer than models anticipate for the air to scour out.

    Someone really could get dumped on w that Wednesday low, some crazy heavy rates modeled albeit at marginal temps for actual accumulation

    One of these years there's gotta be a reverse 2019 type season where the gradient is Eugene to Portland instead of Olympia to Bellingham

    Probably, but Washington posters have no reason to be gloomy right now considering every model shows either significant cold or snow for you guys

    What are your thoughts on the January 1998 comparisons? Do you think that this is the type setup historically that we would see a big valley/metro ice storm?

    No I'm in Eugene right now I'm planning on living vicariously through my fellow Portlanders and their traffic cams
