and all of it is east of Nebraska....AGAIN!! I'll tell you what, I've never been as big of a believer in the LRC as I have been this year. We haven't been hit by anything this year and that's what keeps on repeating. People here have said, you guys will get your big storm in February when the jet gets more active, nothing happened. Then I heard March and so far nothing either. The LRC says nothing for us continuing so why would anything change?! Earlier this week, today was supposed to only be 40 and now its up to 50. The high for Thursday was in the 50s but now we're supposed to be in the mid 60s. The next week is really supposed to be pretty warm with highs over 50 pretty much everyday. At least over here our winter may be done, but it never really started(at least snow wise) as of course we have had a lot of cold
-
Don't worry guys- we're not missing out here either. Last I saw we might get .3" tomorrow evening..... God this sucks
-
Lol! Who did you find this out from? Can I have the prediction on who's winning the world series too this year?! Unbelievable....
-
No snow for Nebraska AGAIN!! at least it's not butt a** cold still and no snow. 69 here right now, supposed to be the same tomorrow, then a brief cool down on Tuesday w/ some rain/snow mix before it warms right back up into the 50s and maybe even 60 the rest of the week.

You have 215 posts and probably 200 of them have said the same thing 2 or 3 things. Good lord you flood this board.... and you're period button apparently still isn't working so you're posts are almost impossible to read. I don't think this winter is just going to shut itself off on the 16th or the 18th or whatever date you keep throwing out. Patterns like this just don't flip overnight. I can see the snow chances going into April easily especially your guys' way, even if the ice on the lake has broken up. Sorry but that isn't going to be the sole factor in the Lakes weather this spring. Meanwhile out here we are supposed to be 63-68 tomorrow and Monday and almost that warm again on Thursday. Bring it on, it's going to feel wonderful!!
-
What does that even mean? You sat down and crunched all the numbers and figures and based on your calculations the numbers showed the 16th exactly? What does that mean, "winter will come to a close by the 16th"? Do you mean all snow will end on that day? There will be no more below normal temps? There will be no more sub freezing temps? Last I heard snow can fall in the fall and the spring and temps get below freezing in the fall and the spring. So exactly what are you saying is going to happen exactly on the 16th? You've made such a broad statment that doesn't really even say anything....
-
Both those shots coming before the 16th then? Because I am banking on winter being done with on the 16th.... don't tell me you steered me wrong or I will lose all faith in your predictions!

March 2014 Observations & Discussion

GFS has been consistent for the last several runs in showing a big storm around the 20th. I know it's in fantasy land, but it's been on every run the last couple of days. Tonight's 0Z run showed a wonderful Colorado low and temps were cold enough for a ton of snow all the way across Nebraska -
I think he meant the 16th for us in Nebraska and then probably the 17th for people in Iowa and then the 18th for Illinois. It's going to take like 2 days longer for people in Illinois since they have more snow. Am I right 24 weather guy?

???? That is the longest sentence I have ever seen and I have no idea what you just said.

I'm whining because I just want a snowstorm. Seriously though, I've said this before this dry winter hasn't been that detrimental to our drought situation. Look at the drought monitor in November and right now, and it hasn't really changed at all. http://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/MapsAndData/MapArchive.aspx Go to Nebraska and change the date and go to categorical stats to see the diff pcts. This weeks drought monitor shows 37.8% in D0, 25.44% D1, 21.88% D2, and 4.62% D3 Nov 5th showed 38.65% D0, 20.46% D1, 22.63% D2, and 4.76% D3 We average under 3" of precip the entire winter, so we may be 2" below normal for the entire winter. Moisture runs off the frozen ground, sun angle is low, etc. As much as the low snowfall has sucked, it's not wiping out the soil moisture. Now if things don't change soon for the spring...

Ended up with about 3/4-1". Came down decent for a while but that was it and now it's over. Another disappointment. The big deal now is the cold. Already down to 0 with a 20 mph wind. We're supposed to break the record low tonight and get down to -8. Tomorrow set a record low high of 2, and tomorrow night a record low of -13. We're going to have our coldest low of this winter here in March

Nebraska to finally see monster Snowstorm in Late February?
NEJeremy replied to clintbeed1993's topic in East of the Rockies
and we're officially out of the winter weather advisory. what a joke of a winter. besides pretty much missing us anyways, the wave that was supposed to hit us this afternoon and tonight really hasn't been that impressive anyway. there's been a few narrow bands of heavier snow but definitely not very wide spread stuff. not sure what this will mean for points east of here -
went from 4-6 to nothing here. at least it will be in the 50s by Thursday and even warmer next week. no big storm showing up next weekend either which I believe is supposed to be another storm per the LRC. although I am sure that storm missed us too since they all have this winter.

NEJeremy replied to clintbeed1993's topic in East of the Rockies
it looks like the NAM got it right most recently at least. no way we see much of anything today or tonight and we already weren't going to get anything from tomorrow's wave. what a bust!! -
Nebraska to finally see monster Snowstorm in Late February?
NEJeremy replied to clintbeed1993's topic in East of the Rockies
we're not going to see any watches because the duration is too long. no way we see 6"+ in 12 hours or 8"+ in 24 hours, but hey 4-6" over the weekend is better than nothing. I just wish it wasn't going to be so da*n cold! -
we're supposed to set record low highs for both Saturday and Sunday here in Omaha
-
and yet the public will always blame the meteorologists!!
-
That model may have done alright with the cold this winter, but it's been on crack for snowfall amounts. I can't even count how many times this winter where it's showed us buried in snow and well..... we all know how that has gone! We might as well be using the JMA for snow amounts too.
-
Sorry but 18-24" of snow isn't going to fall with this system

I called for 4-6" here and that's what the OAX forecast discussion said for amounts this weekend. Wish I was wrong.... -
This makes more sense
-
Yeah sorry, but I just don't see a large area getting over 12" from this weekend. I think the models are overdoing things. Our AFD talks about light snow off and on all weekend. There's going to be breaks, so at most I see is maybe some 6" amounts through Monday, at least around these parts...

OAX AFD from last night: PATTERN TURNS COLDER THROUGH THE WEEKEND/MONDAY...WITH MUCH BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND CHANCES OF LIGHT SNOW PERSISTING. I guess we're going to be light snowed to death over the weekend. C'mon I wanna see a biggie!! -
what site are you guys using that is already out that far? the site I use(mag.ncep.noaa.gov) is behind that
