It's not that I'd rather be stoned during weather events, it's that I've never experienced that. It may very well turn out to be disorienting and distracting instead of ethereal and enhancing. That's my feel anyways. No matter what, I'll always be happy as sh!t whenever the flakes start falling and the bolts start flashing

Whatever you are on, no matter what, enjoy the snow! I have plans to do some not-so-sober stuff when the next big thunderstorm rolls around. Been a bucket list item for me for a while. A two foot overachiever of a snowstorm is also a good substitute. Just be careful if you feel the need to dive into your sea of white! I know that urge well

Notice that band of temporary warming coming out of BC into WA at the end of the 00z NAM. That's due to high cloud banding drifting overhead. I've seen similar sfc temp responses with local weather stations in identical situations. We shitt on our modeling a lot but we forget that these are highly sophisticated algorithms and their simulations hold surprising amounts of fidelity and information. Pretty incredible our computing is so good as to pick up on such a subtle feature.

Finger of east winds kept it at 8.5" in the NE corner of the city. Just down at UW it was closer to 10.5". But my god, were the winds worth it. A stiff ESE gale made for one of the most perplexing storms I've ever witnessed here. Usually easterlies are blocked in my neighborhood but the gradients were so powerful the current sunk down and overcame the local terrain. Snow was blowing everywhere and sticking to the sides of houses, much like the two BC slider systems during February 2019. Didn't get anything quite like that anywhere to the south. And besides, it's not like I'm gonna turn down an 8.5" snowstorm; even with the reduction in totals, it's still the largest single snowfall event I've ever had at my place.
