  1. Don't know if this was posted already, but some flakes in the air for Portland north mid next week on the GFS. Very brief and mixed with rain, but neat regardless.
  2. The new normal. Hopefully the upcoming zonal flow will churn up those waters a bit and cool off the bathtub.
  3. Granted it is only the 8th of the month. Asia could spin up something that changes the outlook for the better. And remember, any blocking provides huge potential. Just need to get it. I'm off to bed. Root for split flow and global warming! Maybe we can use reverse jinxing to get a cold snap...
  4. GEFS mean isn't as harsh as the OP, but it still doesn't support any kind of lowland cold for a while. Something seriously needs to shut down the Pacific. As long as there is this much momentum out there, there will be no cold snap for another month, or longer. If you like weak windstorm potential, AR's, and transient longwave "ridges" that bring sunless skies, this is your run.
  5. As if it were an act of cruelty, it saved the last frame to give SE Asia some favorable troughing and finally build some high latitude blocking. Either way, tonight's 00z run brings Christmas into view. Playing the waiting game...when do we ever not...
  6. That was a bad run. The Pacific was put on hyperdrive as all that cold air in the Arctic was bottlenecked into the Beaufort Sea. Onto the 12z. Again.
