12z gfs is truly extraordinary with the persistence of the troughing over the west. The relentless surges of waves into the low prevent the midwest ridge from expanding back west for the remainder of the month.

12z gfs teases a ridge late next week, then the following trough looks exceptionally dynamic, but not much directly overhead.

After last summers string of sunny, hot days and warm nights with likewise no seasonal variety I think we're even.
