  1. For Seattle... GFS has 925's bottoming at 4 AM Friday morning to -3 C with some light precip.
  2. True, but I feel like the last few years have been particularly dull in terms of T-storms. e.g. two years after 2,000 strikes we get:
  3. Absolutely. I feel like the last good one in Seattle was in 2019 or 2018... it was the one that made headlines for 100's of lightning strikes. googled it... Sept. 7, 2019. More than 2,000 lightning strikes. https://seattlemag.com/best-of-seattle/best-2019-seattles-september-lighting-storm/
  4. A lot of people I've talked to say LA is better than they expected. I think it has a lot of cool neighborhoods. Personally I've never been there. Also a plus that you can grow citrus and avocado trees down there.
  5. NWS should write an algorithm to detect stations reporting obviously bogus data and take them off their maps. I spot 2 crappy sensors on this map: guessing it's not 22 in Monroe, nor is it 71 in West Seattle.
  6. Most of the stations are reporting rain... which was predicted by NWS, but they think it changes to snow later overnight.
  7. Seattle has had a ton of snow and cold, but a lot of it has been wet and/or light. Still a great winter in my book.
  8. Oof. Though according to the recent post by mjreich, the NBM should be performing better now than it did last week, because we are not in the midst of a major pattern switch but have had a similar pattern for a little while now.
  9. One thing that is pretty easy to Nowcast is comparing where a low center is modeled to be vs. where it actually is. You can figure out where it is based on surface winds, sea-level pressure readings, or, when it's offshore, where it looks like the clouds are spinning around.
  10. I used to think you could extrapolate based on precip moving on the radar, but then I realized it almost always dissipates before hitting me, especially when snow is involved... Now I just look at the forum and am even more confused.
  11. Working outside all day I got to experience snow, rain, and snow pellets. Pretty nice day actually.
  12. I bet Everett gets nailed with a CZ that drops 6" sometime in the next 2 weeks.
