  1. Chance of T-storms in the forecast up this way, too! Scoring one of those that yields another half inch or so would be the cherry atop the sundae for this event.
  2. Congrats! Significantly further south than most model runs showing the precip getting.
  3. Significant overperformance compared to model consensus for your locale. And you were worried about getting skunked earlier!
  4. Main band has shifted to my east, so that’s about all she wrote for the prelude and the main event. May eke out a few stray lingering showers but don’t expect them to amount to a whole lot. 1.07" total. Not bad at all for late July.
  5. Wow! 1.01" so far. Those model runs showing me getting a good drenching have verified.
  6. Oooh, a red-spotted garter snake, Thamnophis sirtalis concinnus. I love those. They like to eat, amongst other things, slugs.
  7. Rainfall total up to 0.77". Temperature down to 57.2°F. Cool fresh air coming in the cracked-open window smells wonderful. Here’s hoping the wealth starts getting shared soon.
  8. Are you aware of how much Vostok and McMurdo stations have urbanized in the last 50 years? Here, let me show you a few satellite views!
  9. I am, to use @SilverFallsAndrew's terminology, really being blessed today. The models have long been saying northern areas would score really well on this one. They have also been consistently saying that you won’t get completely skunked. I bet you get something from this.
  10. Rainy and 58.1°F. 0.46" and counting for the day. Daytime max temp so far: 62.2°F.
  11. A slight oversimplification; all-time cold records have been set in recent years. Of course, they are well outnumbered by falling all-time heat records. It’s basically the sort of pattern one would expect to see in a warming Earth.
  12. Initial slug of moisture seems to have passed as the rain has stopped for now. Got 0.28" from it. 59.1°F and rising.
  13. 11:50 AM, almost high noon, and the temperature continues to fall. Now down to 57.7°F. 0.24" and counting.
  14. Over an inch more yet to come! That would be awesome! Now at 0.19" and counting. 58.2°F… cooler than it was at daybreak.
  15. Yes, fascism was one of the political right's responses to communism. (Or more precisely left-wing politics; Mussolini went fascist [he was previously a socialist] in response to the Italian Socialist Party opposing World War I; the organized Communist movement started at around the same time, in opposition to the failure of some Socialist Parties to oppose World War I.) Probably Exhibit A in why I do not consider right-wing anti-communism to be a pro-freedom position but instead strongly mistrust it and see it as a major threat to freedom.
  16. What a treat to wake to rain! .04" so far. 58.8˚F.
