  1. I read where Bucks Co., Penn recorded a 100mph straight line wind. That's remarkable. What the heck is going on? The entire northern tier of the US is getting smacked around.
  2. North Texas is very average right now. Temp - 55*. Forecast will be highs 55-70 over next 10 days Lows in 40's. No rain except a 30-40% chance Wed/Thurs This is very average for us, nothing exceptional. All the off the charts stuff is in the northern half of the ConUS. Have fun guys!
  3. I know this is way east, but in response to the map and Okwx's comment get this.....100mph winds in Bucks County, Penn.!
  4. That’s incredible Okwx ! I’m gobsmacked.
  5. I'm looking forward to reading your winter news. You're right there in the cold spot of the nation. I'm farthest south so it will be an interesting winter news-wise. Lots of freezes out there.
  6. Gorgeous clear sunny morning. Finished October pretty cool. Low @32*. Beautiful frost sparkling on the grass. We'll see a High of 61* today. Climbing to near 70* over the next 5 days. Pretty typical for us as fronts move through then warming. I'm waiting to get clobbered with a snowy front this year !
  7. Low of 30* last night. That tied the record low for Halloween morning. It will freeze again tonight. Temps will slowly climb over the next 5 days to highs in the low 70's. No precip. on the short horizon.
  8. It's good to get this rain, but I'm very interested in how far south all this cold will sink. If it's what many of you suspect this winter, then North Texas should pick up its share of deep cold, perhaps some snow. I'm wondering if we're looking at a repeat of winter 2008-2009 down here. A lot of snow, rain, and misty fog that winter. Deep heavy gray skies that winter.
  9. Thanks for the update Jaster! Wouldn't that be something?! It's been a long time. I recall deep snow in 2008-2009 winter here. Then it dried up. I'm hoping we don't start seeing it only every 10 yrs as I may have to travel to see snow.
  10. Tom, I'm curious. It's been a long time since North Texas saw snow. Do you think it will sink far enough south to give DFW some of the white stuff? I haven't been optimistic, but the cold air runs are indicating a lot of cold sinking south.
  11. Raining like Madtown, USA right now. Heavy rain, thunder, lightning. Quite a show. The 2nd front is moving through today. Rain will slow by afternoon and temps will fall. We're expecting our first freeze. Wind chills in the 20's. Currently 41, Low of 31 tonight. Breezy-15-25mph. A week early on the freeze. Pretty consistent with the rest of the subforum.
  12. [quote name="OKwx2k4" Got some thunder and light rain now at 44°. It’ll be snowing soon!
  13. 45*. Mist. Low tonight 43* Rainfall so far ~.45”. More tomorrow Low Thursday a.m. ~30*. Earliest freeze in DFW is Oct 22, so we’re a week off. Still early for us.
  14. 2 Fronts will slide through No. Tx. Rain tomorrow and Wednesday. Highs Mid 50's and a Low Wednesday of 34*. Breezy, 10-20 mph. The change is official.
  15. Found this interesting. Arctic Cold and Rounds of Snow to Spread From the West Into the Plains and Upper Midwest This Week https://weather.com/forecast/regional/news/2019-10-26-arctic-cold-snow-west-rockies-plains-midwest
  16. CFS definitely missed Texas precip. We've received rain through the month and it's coming in as I write this the 28th.
  17. We have rain coming in. Slow but sure....misting right now. We expect perhaps an inch at most between now and tomorrow noon Nice winter-like rain. Currently 54* Low of 47*. You guys start your engines for November!!
  18. Here’s a headline in Texas after the recent Panhandle snow: “Pampa, TX – Heavy Snow, Whiteout Conditions, Stranded Motorists” Yeah. I’ve never seen this so early. That storm packed a punch. Preview of the winter?
  19. The front has left us with 48* at 11 am. A High of 68 expected. We'll see. Low tonight 47*. Olga out in the GOM Brings some severe weather and flooding to the Deep South. There was a good deal of flooding in Austin, Texas with these storms as well.
  20. Currently 46* Rain coming in this evening again. No real change in temps expected. High tomorrow 64*...maybe. Had another power outage at 7 this morning. Lot's of angry folks trying to make coffee or dry hair! Someone hit a power pole. I understand he split his car in half - and didn't make it. No power till noon. Really bad wreck.
  21. Always cool to see. We've had thundersnow and thunderice in North Texas. It is so weird.
  22. We've lost power for the 2nd time. A drop of rain and the system crashes. There isn't even a storm nearby. 3.6 million without power at rush hour. Good times!
  23. You're really stoked for this one jaster! Here hoping you get a White Christmas !
