  1. I thought most Californians were not gun violence advocates. I guess we can all be pushed to a breaking point. I realize the fires were and are devastating. Hard to manage things when the Santa Ana winds start up. I guess they had to try something. All those fires last year were just shocking. Gorgeous day today, cool breeze, sunny. Can I order up a year of this? We do need rain, however.
  2. https://www.wsj.com/articles/two-earthquakes-shake-san-francisco-bay-area-11571150918 Scientists are alerting the area for more aftershocks after a 4.5 earthquake at a depth of 10km. This was enough to rattle home and nerves. The quakes are occurring along the San Andreas East of San Francisco. It was followed up by a 4.7 aftershock. Scientists believe there will be more aftershocks in the area for an undetermined time. Many aftershocks are under 3.0.
  3. Were sitting at 56* this morning. A High of 73* after a front blew through. We need the rain Tom, but looks very dry for the next week. Great if you have yard work or harvesting, but frankly, I want rain. Sunday will see a bounce up to 90-92*. But then back into the 70's......and dry. :/
  4. Sorry to be gone so long. Health stuff plus publishing a book has had its complications. Anyway, this is an awesome article from 2013 on the coming cooling epoch. Noted Russian solar scientist Dr. Habibullo Abdussamatov wrote the article and good science knows no publishing date. Check this out. https://www.climatedepot.com/2013/12/04/new-paper-russian-solar-physicist-by-habibullo-abdussamatov-predicts-another-little-ice-age-within-the-next-30-years/ "The Sun is the main factor controlling the climatic system and even non-significant long-term TSI variations may have serious consequences for the climate of the Earth and other planets of the Solar system. Quasi-bicentennial solar cycles are the key to understanding cyclic changes in both the nature and the society. The sign and value of the energy imbalance in the Earth-atmosphere system over a long time span (excess of incoming TSI accumulated by the Ocean, or its deficiency) determine a corresponding change of the energy state of the system and, hence, a forthcoming climate variation and its amplitude. That is why the Earth’s climate will change every 200±70 years; and it is the result of bicentennial cyclic TSI variation." 5. It's a typical weird and wonderful Fall in Texas as we head for 90-92* However this evening a dry front will come through and tomorrow will have a High of 74* Low of 51* Eventually the Highs will tumble, unless we have one of those awful 90* Christmases in our summer clothes.
  6. I was on the road very early this morning and we had a beautiful soft autumn sunrise. Lots of high gray clouds moving in. Currently at 73*. Needle won't move at all tonight. 80% chance of rain. Currently light showers. Tomorrow will bring more rain, but a High of 90*! Leaves just now showing a tinge of color. Made for a very nice drive into downtown, despite traffic.
  7. Gorgeous day in North Texas. High at 81*. Low tonight 60*. Clear, Heavenly day. We have a front moving in. Monday night rain will come in through Tuesday. Expect approx .75" on average. Temps will stay in the mid 80's till Wednesday when they drop into the 70's. It's great to finally feel the season change.
  8. Gorgeous day! High of 66*. Low tonight 51*. Clear today and tonight. Low humidity.....just awesome.
  9. Texas has finally gotten its place in the Rain. Strong thunderstorms knocked out power to over 800,000 last night. We're at 44* this morning, more rain. High of 64*. Man, am I glad to see the weather turn. It's been a long summer. Not bad, just loooong!
  10. Wouldn't surprise me. DFW is at 44* this morning as the front continues to move through. The northern Panhandle is a climate unto itself from the rest of Texas. Closer to southern Colorado.
  11. Big change finally down south, Boys! DFW is enjoying 46* this morning and a strong thunderstorm rumbling just west of me this morning. Heavy thunderstorms last night, extremely heavy lightning. We lost power for almost 3 hours. High of 64* today. Wow, nice change.
  12. Almost 1 million without power. It just came back on. A lot of rain and high wind. Hail east of Ft Worth. I’ll have totals tomorrow. Just glad air and lights back. House was getting very stuffy. Quite a light show. It’ll finally cool off now into the mid 50’s. Hallelujah.
  13. 2 hrs and still no power. Pouring outside though. Lots of thunder and action.East of us the hail has been damaging autos. I’m lucky. Just heavy rain. Very nice. Would like some power about now. But it’ll come on about when I’m ready to go to bed. Nice start to Fall.
  14. I have in a blizzard west of Chicago in 1978. Interesting, shoveled a lot of snow. Cold as you can get for a Texas kid. Glad I experienced it, but once was good enough for me.
  15. Severe thunderstorm watch along the Red River into Okla.. We may see thunderstorms in the 7-8 pm timeframe. Low in the mid 40's high around 58*. Saturdays will give us mid 40's as a low I can dig it. We still will be in the mid-'80s some next week, but that's Fall in Texas. It's famous for making some folks sick as hell. I'm just hoping we don't miss the rain train.
  16. Oh Baby!! Those rain dances DO work!Looking forward to finally giving everything some relief plus the psychological relief that always seems to come with rain. I’m so pumped for this. The air is warm and very humid this morning. It just need a little push and it will drop from the sky. It’s overcast and breezy. On its way.
  17. Let's keep our snow totals rolling through the winter of 2019-2020. At the end of winter we can declare the top snowman for the forum.
  18. Ill be enjoying your cold from afar. How does this cold compare to injections of cold in the past? Is it early or about on time? We have another warm day. 93*. But tomorrow will. Be windy, 20-30 mph and a high of 63* Tonight will see that front blow through. Windy. 90% chance of rain, some severe cells. Here comes Fall! Ready or not!
  19. We struggled our way up to 87*. Windy. 20 mph.
  20. This will reach us tomorrow. Not a freeze but nice cool Fall weather. This morning was gorgeous, cool. Afternoon may warm considerably but the front will take care of that!! Everyone is panting for Fall !
  21. 2 days in the low 90's ahead. Lows in high 70's. The usual Texas flip flop till the cool finally settles in. It's been heaven though. Looking forward to next cool front. It's comin'!
  22. 2 days at 91-92* then back down to 62* and a chance of rain. It's that roller coaster period we get. It'll level out.
