  1. Things have actually improved here IMBY at the surface, it doesn't smell smokey, but interestingly enough, the breeze is warmer than earlier today. Also, everything does have that lovely orange tint of smoke filtered sunlight. Currently 73
  2. Yeah, I was just outside and the wind definitely has a cool feel to it. The last couple of times we have dealt with this the winds felt like a blast furnace, and that's up here....I can't imagine how it felt at points further south. Temp is up to 76 here.
  3. Very smoky out this morning, and continuing to get thicker. It was just the smell this morning, but as I look out the window now, the haze is really settling in....also this..... Mt Baker is supposed to be somewhere out there
  4. My vote is for King Chuckles, but I probably stand alone with that. Never been a fan of him...
  5. I was hoping to get the stairs, rails and pergola done on my deck this weekend, but looks like we might have less than ideal working conditions at least on Saturday. Oh well, I can use the day to go car shopping for my son.
  6. My former boss is Canadian, and the now retired Chief Engineer is British.. they loved to team up and give us crap about spelling differences and how we spelled things wrong. I pretty much started throwing a 'u' after the 'o' in all of my emails them. I also used to give the Chief Engineer crap, telling him that the reason why our metal expenditures was so high (I was the project cost analyst) was because he always called for Al-you-min-ee-um instead of regular 'ole aluminum.
  7. My son and I were at the store the other day, and he was trying to pick a beer for the potluck he was going to, we came across the White Claw section, and he laughed and said Bozeman was the biggest consumer for White Claw per capita when it came out (and went on to say how nasty it is). I told him it was Zima back in my day, but pretty much the same "crowd" that drank it.
  8. As strong as the smell is, that was my first thought. Just checked FB again and found this post from Randy Small.
  9. It's a little hazy here, but crazy strong smoke smell. I scanned FB and the Pulsepoint app, and it doesn't looks like there were any fires in the immediate area to justify how strong the smell is....
  10. Just stepped outside and very strong campfire smell, and hazy out. My outdoor 2.5PM air quality sensor is the air quality drop over the past 45 minutes....kinda surprised to walk out to that. This morning was an amazing crisp fall morning, got down to 47 overnight.
  11. Cool cloudy morning up here in Bellingham with a temp of 64 and some off and on sprinkles. It's nice to hear the raindrops hitting the deck & leaves. I know soon enough the "novelty" will wear off but for today it is very pleasant.
  12. D**n man glad to hear you are ok and bounced back so quick. Welcome back! Someone was asking about you just the other day
  13. We've had an orange hue pretty much much all afternoon up here in Bellingham. It's very pleasant in the shade but as soon as you get into the sun its pretty miserable. Made it up to 80 at one point, but back down to 75 now.
  14. Facebook has been blowing up here in Whatcom County with reports of thunder out over the bay and in the Acme area a couple of hours ago. Mainly cloudy here with a temp of 78 and a DP of 63
  15. I have a buddy who started out by doing construction for 15 years, then was basically a project manager building high end custom homes in the area. He is now a facilities manager for an investment/holdings group and takes care of a few houses, restaurants and a manufacturing facility. He loves doing this type of stuff too, and I "hired" him to design and lead this effort. I have another buddy who helped out who enjoys doing this type of stuff. We went from the 3rd picture to the 4th picture in about 6-7 hours. It's pretty crazy how quickly it went up!
  16. It definitely felt like fall this morning with a low of 53. Been working on building a deck over the course of the past month, and finally got to a point where we have something we can use (just can't invite any friends over with young kids ). I've never had a backyard I could "enjoy." It has either been too small, had too much slope or been too wet/mucky. Everywhere I have lived had back decks along the lines of what is shown in the "before" shot. It was nice to be able to sit out and enjoy the evening last night. All we have left is the stairs, railings, and a pergola and we will be good to go!
  17. The Blob has been pulling the wool over our eyes about living in the PNW....they actually live in Germany and their commute is 90% autobahn.
