  1. That's what I did in our local town yesterday (Sat.) afternoon as well. Some of our family was in the parade. Also watched locals play softball and play music. I love summer!
  2. A nice line of storms on my doorstep for the first in a long time. Sad to see it's mostly or totally missing Ottumwa. Hoping for a miracle 1". We desperately need it for the crops!
  3. I think it's been a bit drier here than many places. So far only 0.32" for June and it's been very dry since early May. But sw. Iowa, etc also has low areas which often are cooler and thermometers also vary a bit.
  4. The thing is that Trump didn't commit any crime like the mainstream media is trying to imply. Not like Biden who had documents even before he was president. And he had them in unsecured places like his garage, in China Town of DC, and who knows where all. At least at Mar-A-Lago there are secret service guarding the place 24/7. Bedsides the Feds may have put those boxes and docs there as a setup, and who knows what were in them. This is just a total political witch hunt, and actually election interference, because their scientific internal polls are showing Trump as the frontrunner and the uni party is panicking because they know their crimes will be exposed if he's elected! We're officially a communist Banana Republic by arresting a political apponent. It's not just Trump they are after. It's us, he's just standing in their way!
  5. It's funny seeing Trump's poll numbers rising every time he's indicted and arrested! What Biden and the rest of the deep state criminals are trying to do is backfiring. Lots of MAGA folks say they will vote for Trump as a write in, even if he's in prison. Trump 2024MAGA!!! https://rumble.com/v2u05xo-trump-attorney-christina-bobb-explains-president-trumps-not-guilty-plea.html
  6. I had a low of 43⁰ yesterday morning. Kind of strange that you were cooler.
  7. I don't know if Nino summers here are necessarily often wet, but rather aren't nearly as likely to have a drought, though this year is different, and strange so far. Then again, summer has just begun.
  8. I remember seeing some earlier model runs showing heavier rainfall for much of Michigan and being a little jealous, but sadly, those runs must have been off as often seems to be the case. And the models vary a lot for my area later this week and don't really seem to have much of a clue. But we don't seem to be seeing a wetter pattern yet.
  9. Used to be for personal use, but now we sell most of it to a nearby farming cousin who rents the field a year at a time, and they do all of the harvesting. My sister's family used to rent it before they moved to Nebraska. I sold my livestock a few years ago so don't need the hay. I don't own the land and just used to buy the hay from my brother who farms.
  10. The rain here is basically a nothingburger. A big let down for sure with only a few hundreths so far.
  11. JFYI....Here in my area we bale hay every 4-6 weeks starting in late May and ending in September or October with a total of 4-6 cuttings. I've baled dry hay in November a few times and once in early December. This is one crop we can harvest multiple times per year. In a normal year It a challenge to get hay made without rain so a lot of farmers will bale it partially wet then seal it in a bag or silo, or wrap individual bales in plastic wrap. Hay is most often alfalfa or alfalfa/grass mix here.
  12. Crop hybrids these days are much improved and more drought resistant than they used to be, being bred for that and other things. Crops here still look good, but really need rain. A few organic farmers are still waiting to plant beans till it rains as it doesn't do any good to plant in dry soil where some might sprout, but most wouldn't. July 4 is the cut-off date for planting beans around here, so there's still some time. With moisture they'll pop up in short order with the warmer soil temps this time of the year! Organic farmers usually wait a little longer to plant as organic seeds aren't treated for cool soils etc, and by working the soil later they can kill a crop of weeds before planting, etc.
  13. That should change dramatically before long as crops like corn and beans grow enough to cover the soil or close the rows.
  14. What is wrong with the Ukie Model? That thing is clueless, earlier showing a weird nw/se heavy band of rain right over the center of Iowa unlike any other model, then recently it looked more similar to others though strangely heavy here, now it's a total wiff and south! And many other models aren't too impressive either. I'ld like to get at least a half inch, (which isn't nearly enough) but I'm having a bad feeling about this, and then I'll probably have to wait at least another week if this system underperforms.
  15. I didn't know you're a reporter for COCORAHS, or maybe I just forgot.
  16. I saw a video of 'her' being painted.
  17. Backdoor cool fronts are not that unusual here with Lake Michigan enhancing them a few times. I've lost track of how many those fronts we've had in the past few months with the strange wx pattern we have.
  18. We've had quite a string of >90⁰ days recently except not the last 2 or so days as a cooler pattern sets in.
  19. Well the Dems do have RFK as an option. He's rating fairly good in the polls, as he's more of a decent old school democrat, more like they used to be years ago. And he believes that the CIA was behind JFK's assassination! I used to think that's a conspiracy theory, but I'm thinking it could be true after all. I heard Steve Bannon was trying to get RFK to run, and since Steve Bannon is close to Trump, it could've been Trump behind getting him to run, trying to devide the Dems. Because far left Dems definitely don't want RFK!
  20. What do you mean by DeSantis will run? He's already running, and that's after he promised he wouldn't run against Trump, after Trump endorsed him for governor and helped him get to where he is now. Plus Ron had to change Florida law to run for federal office!
  21. I knew there wasn't an actual tape used! Lol. But I think it's kinda of wierd to still use that analogy, though I knew they still do.
  22. That's body painted for those who aren't aware.
  23. I just had to laugh and wondering what alien planet you're living on! I'm seriously wondering if Biden still will last one term, as a few days ago he bumped his head pretty hard on the door frame top as he was exiting the helicopter. And he was wondering around on stage and didn't know where he needs to stand to speak before he tripped over a small sand bag and fell hard. And the press secretary says they didn't even check him out at the hospital, which they should for someone this old, after a fall, including the head bump. It's basically elder abuse to have someone with early stages of dementia to try and run the country! But we all should know someone else is trying to run the nation from behind the scenes....probably Obama. But the mainstream media is trying to downplay or cover up these things, so you may not be aware of Biden's gaffes.
  24. I also was grazed on the se. edge of a brief, hot cell with just 0.19". It won't go far and didn't soak down much, but it still helps! Just a bit of hail bigger than peas. I could hear it rain and hail more, and maybe half a minute sooner, on the neighbor's steel roofed buildings across the road to the north! And for a spell it sounded like it was raining on the west half of the approximately 800'- 900' building, it was so spotty! Radar estimates show around 1" maybe 1-2 miles nw. And yes, cells generally moved from e. to w. Lawns are beginning to get brown and I didn't mow like I usually would at the end of the week.
  25. I guess I better not get up my hopes for chances early next week.
