2/14-2/17 Possible Winter Storm Train
Craig-OmahaWX replied to Minny_Weather's topic in East of the Rockies
I just don't think the clipper system for Friday will be that far southwest, those types of systems usually don't do that and I wouldn't be surprised if it comes more northeast eventually. But I'm definitely liking the trends for this weekend! I don't remember a stretch of winter weather this good in years! -

Wow this coming weekend looking good so far! A couple decent hits across Nebraska and Iowa. -
The airport reported 3 inches here...too the other Omaha poster who called me a lier, think and research before you post next time!
-
Been coming down heavy here all afternoon! Have about 3 inches so far. Wouldn't be shocked to get near 4 before it winds down later.
-
New NAM actually gives Omaha and Lincoln 4-5 inches isolated 6 inches! Think its trying to inch back NW now. Time will tell
-
It's not a lost cause yet, Lincoln and Omaha are either going to be in the heavy band or miss it just too the south by one county. Still some time for things to change!
-
Well thing seems to have changed drastically, lets see how things still look in the morning. If we can pick up another 2-3 inches I will be satisfied. If we have to nickel and dime our way to above average so be it lol.
-
Not liking the trend with the GFS and NAM models this evening. The HRRR doesn't look too bad though.
-
GFS is really bizarre looking for this system next week over Nebraska lol. Time will tell. It needs to sort the first system out first.

January 2019 Observations and Discussion
Craig-OmahaWX replied to Minny_Weather's topic in East of the Rockies
Look's like next week could be a one two punch! One system Monday then another Wednesday. -
Maybe, El Nino will influence this and make it come more south and west lol. Wishful thinking
-
Snow is starting to explode over Douglas County here! Lets pick up another inch!
-
Wow, heaviest snow band I've been in all winter! It's puking snow outside. Hoping to see continual SW precipitation development.
-
Wow....speechless
-
Yep. It's like nothing ever happened.
-
LOL OAX completely ignored even talking about the amounts going up and only mentioned light snow.
-
Ahhhh...just too D**n close. Never thought it could go in this direction so fast. Thats the El Nino pattern kicking back in folks. Just hoping the south trend can cut it out
-
LOL this is comical.
-
Wow, the fv3 gfs is absolutely insane for eastern Nebraska. No way anyone gets 18 inches lol. I could see 4-7 inches isolated 8 inches in the heaviest band.
-
Will never forget how bad the NAM did for eastern Nebraska last Thursday a day before the storm. 6z that day had 14 inches here then by days end at 0z it had 1".
-
Wow, this run was good! The banding is the same from 12z, but a bit less snow, but lets be realistic, no ones getting 14 inches from this system lol
-
3km NAM = What storm? More of a snizzle event! lol
-
Looking pretty good here but like others have said, the rain snow line is a little close for comfort.
