    00z ECMWF Saturday morning: Not too terribly exciting, but tonight's run wants to spin up a wave of low pressure off the Coast west of Pacific City. It's not super deep at around 999mb, but the wind gust model does show the southerlies ramping up around 2-9 AM which might reach Advisory levels mainly south of Portland. A few spots on the Coast may see gusts to High Wind Warning levels. That's IF the EURO is correct. Perhaps this is something to keep an eye on.

    That was rare and it came straight down the BC coast. A northerly blast. It produced a few lightning strikes in the PDX metro area too.

    ex-Super Typhoon Hagibis is now fully entrained into the WPAC jet. BIG comma head emerging.

    More than likely yep. ex-Super Typhoon Hagibis is now beginning to be pulled into the Western Pacific jet, but so far models don't dig the upper level trough enough for any fun. 6z GFS in 3 hours 26 minutes

    A rare 2nd week of October east wind event peaked this morning. i can't remember seeing anything like this before Halloween.     It is VERY wind at my house with loud, roaring gusts near West Gresham. We simply do not see east wind events before Halloween. This is crazy.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but 1862 didn't that occur due to extreme jet suppression down into central/southern California rather than typical strong GoA blocking? I might be wrong though. 6z GFS in 3 hours 19 minutes

    It is a VERY mild and breezy evening Temp 64.5, Southwest Winds 20-30mph near West Gresham. It *Feels* like Fall out there! PDX and Troutdale are at 66 degrees now!

    00z WRF 5:00 AM Wednesday and I spy 925mb temps of -18c in Central BC. Not bad!
