IF this is a trend for improved amplification of the Aleutian ridge/merger look for colder 12z runs today.

Day 4 block a bit more amplified and note it's a bit 'beefier' in width over Alaska.

Day 3.5 heights a bit higher over southwestern Alaska, block a touch further north/amplified

Here was Day 2 (Pivotal running a bit slower than Tidbits)

Hmmm, at Day 2.5 both the offshore ridge and Aleutian ridge feature stronger height anomalies and closer to merging than 00z, 18z. Somewhat close to a mega block.

6z NAM compared to 00z air mass is much colder in BC when looking at both the 850/surface temp anomalies and has progressed significantly further south at Day 3.5 nice.

I still see some potential for colder runs ahead.

That favors a cold pattern for us? I have some knowledge of the MJO, but it is VERY limited compared to you and Phil. Your analysis of it, how it affects long range patterns is appreciated. 6z GFS in 1 hour 49 minutes

If the WPO tanks that blocking with that level of amplitude may hold sturdier than is being modeled now, wouldn't you think? There would be no energy bumping into it to either weaken or flatten it down.

I know how easy it is to get sucked into it whether it's mocking someone, or being mocked, or arguing, or nitpicking the smallest details, it breeds negativity and every other member on this forum doesn't enjoy it, and shouldn't have to be subjected to it.
