  1. Looking at how the population at large is doing and housing costs right now, you could be a doing a heck of a lot worse than buying land next to a nature preserve in the Portland metro and building your own custom home on it. It’s all relative. #prayers4matt
  2. Seems like late month is a good window for at least a chilly snap. Could do a little bit to offset the absolute blowtorch the first week of the month.
  3. Thursday ended up cool and mostly cloudy with rain late. 52/34 spread. As has been common lately, the bulk of the rain with the Thursday system came overnight. Yesterday was mostly cloudy and dry most of the daylight and evening hours, with a 54/47 spread. Had some gusty south winds overnight last night and some decent rainfall this morning, and a few heavier afternoon showers. Mostly cloudy otherwise with a 53/49 spread so far today.
  4. Ended up with lots of afternoon sunbreaks after morning rain, and a 56/44 day on Tuesday. Midnight low with some late clearing. Yesterday was quite nice with morning low clouds and afternoon sun, but temps staying seasonably cool. 53/38 spread, with a midnight low once again.
  5. Ended up with some light frost this morning giving way to fog, and a low of 34. Today could stay chilly too with clouds from the next system moving inn now. Currently overcast and 46. Nice to see temps a little more seasonable after a total blowtorch the first week of the month.
  6. Another partly sunny morning after pouring rain most of the night. Ended up with a fairly mild 56/50 spread for the day, but at least we managed to stay sub-60. Picked up another 3/4” rain starting in the late afternoon hours through overnight last night. Well over 4” to the month now, pretty good considering it’s only the 7th. Although things look a bit drier going forward. Currently partly to mostly sunny and 52 after a low of 48.
  7. The 00z EPS wasn’t terrible, even in the long range. Not sure how it looks for areas further north though.
  8. Had to catch the beautiful combo of dark skies and brilliant yellow leaves today. Took a walk near Tech Center Park in Vancouver.
  9. 12z Euro and EPS were nice. Seems like it’s been more consistent in the long range than the GFS lately.
  10. Looks like a band with some areas of heavy precip is rotating in from the SW this morning. Could be a wet late morning and early afternoon in the Portland metro.
  11. I don’t know what to tell everyone. I’ve been making a conscious effort to post better content lately and not participate in the flame wars like the ones being started today. And I will keep trying to improve going forward. Really all I can do.
  12. I’ve never taken reacts all that seriously. I guess not everyone feels that way.
  13. I’m sorry you feel that way, but that really isn’t an accurate representation of who I am. It’s actually sort of ironic since you are basically displaying the sort of behavior you’re describing with this post. As you have in the past as well.
  14. So much heavy rain overnight, but now as day breaks, showers are moving to the north, out of the area, and the south winds have kicked in. It really has been a noticeable timing thing this month so far. At any rate picked up over an inch of rain overnight, closing in on 3.5” mtd. PDX is now well above average for the water year to date, and quickly approaching average for year to date.
  15. I understand Jim. For many reasons, 2023 has been one of the hardest years of my life so far. I‘m sorry it’s been such a tough one for you too. There are so many difficult things in this life that we can’t control. But there are others that we absolutely can. So at the very least, I would like to extend the olive branch to you and maybe we can work on being friends again.
  16. We had several freezes down here, so everything is pretty much dormant for now. Maybe you live too close to the water to have gotten that cold in late October.
  17. Some very heavy rain at times this late afternoon and evening. Closing in on .70” for the day. Over 3” for the month already. Another disappointingly mild day with a high of 62. Early day mild temps and sunbreaks, but light to moderate rain moved in by about 3pm. 51 with light rain now, which is actually the low for the day. Hopefully today was our last 60+ for at least a few weeks.
  18. As has been mentioned, the fall colors have been quite gorgeous this week. One of the later peaks I can ever remember, but beautiful nonetheless. Some shots from the eastern Gorge near Rowena and Mosier a few days back.
  19. I haven’t bashed anyone’s preferences or called names for quite some time. Same can’t be said for some…
  20. Would be nice if the timing were such where we’d get heavy rain during the day and clearing at night. It’s been the total opposite lately, perfect for maximizing warmth
  21. Ended up with a 59/46 day on Friday. Dense morning fog gave way to partly sunny conditions in the afternoon, with overcast and rain arriving late in the day. Rained hard overnight into Saturday morning. Picked up close to another inch out here. Up to 2.5” on the month already. Yesterday was mild to warm with rain in the morning tapering off to partly to mostly cloudy skies and very mild conditions with breezy SW winds. Very similar to Thursday. 64/52 spread (midnight low). Today has been partly to mostly sunny so far. Mild low of 50. Rain looks to be moving in in a few hours, but it looks like another 60 degree day is likely on the books for PDX. Sitting at 57 here. Looking forward to cooler, more seasonable temps going forward.
  22. The suburban sprawl up there has just gotten awful.
