Mostly cloudy early with some drizzle in spots and a mild start yesterday, then partly cloudy later on. 68/54 spread. The low temp was recorded in the evening. Morning low clouds and some afternoon sun today, 67/51 spread. Looks like the warmth is on for the next 7-10 days or more, with only a brief break early next week. The upcoming pattern isn’t normal October ups and downs, it’s a continuation of the high end to near record breaking warmth that has been dominating the weather around here since late April. At the moment it appears that October could have some very significant positive anomalies throughout the region, come mid month. -

100% what you were doing back in April right? Easy for those who love warmth to play the fake-zen act with our climate inordinately moving in their favor. And during the rare times it doesn’t, boy do we hear about it. -

It makes me sad, but I very often feel like place isn’t good for me. I’ve tried to scale back and post mostly personal obs the last several months, maybe model commentary or ensembles sometimes, not participate in the flame wars to a fraction of a degree that I used to, ignore certain problem causing posters completely. But, for reasons I can’t fully understand, there seems to be this sense of vicious sadism regarding our warming climate and constantly mocking those who are upset by it in any way. It just feels really ugly and mean to me. It often makes it not feel worth it to log in, period. I’ve been trying my best to ignore it but, it’s constant and persistent. Not sure what the ultimate goal even is aside from wanting me and others who think like me to go away completely. It’s been an incredibly difficult year in my personal life for reasons I do not wish to go into on here, and following the models/posting about the weather is a nice distraction and something that I take great enjoyment in at its best. I really like and enjoy the input from the majority of posters here as well, but thanks to a select few I am rapidly losing the will to be a part of this community anymore. And maybe that’s just the outcome they want.- 3318 replies

Ended up with a 59/48 day here. Good for my first sub-60 high of the season. Dry through noon or so, then steady rain all afternoon up through about an hour ago. Temps in the mid-50s much of the afternoon hours so quite fall like. Picked up .45”, a nice soaking. 56 with some drizzle in spots now. -

12z EPS hinted at an immediate return to ridging after a system limps through in about a week as well. Just the sh*t state of our climate these days. -

Already five degrees too cool for the high today. -

It was looking like PDX had a good shot at their first sub-60 high of the season today, but the rain drizzle is moving in just a little too late. Up to 61 there now. To bad. Still a chance here with the temp holding at 59. -

Ended up with a gorgeous 69/40 yesterday here. Morning fog then mostly sunny with some scenic high clouds moving in toward evening. Low of 48 this morning. Currently mostly cloudy and 52 with some drizzle in spots. Looking forward to another soaking today before we go back to our default ridging. Although it’s nice to have some light at the end of the tunnel for that already. -

Nice to see tomorrow’s rain event getting beefed up a little on the models. Also starting to look like we won’t have to endure too much misery next week before a rainy pattern returns. Although it wouldn’t surprise me to see the ridgy pattern get extended. -

Stunning first day of October. Currently 67 and sunny after a chilly low of 40 with some patchy fog around. Coldest morning of the season so far. -

Summer started in late April. May was record warm for the region. I guess it could be argued that summer ended close to on time this year which was nice for a change, but I certainly wouldn’t call five months of summer (late April-late September) short lived. It mostly seems like you have unreasonable expectations for warmth that even our rapidly warming climate can’t quite meet. -

I’ll take a troughy and wet pattern literally any time of year. It’s so rare these days not to have some sort of record setting ridge sitting on top of us. Honestly we’ve had some decent rain and some normal fall like temps the last 7-10 days, and that looks to last another 3-5 or so. So by then, judging by modern climo, we will definitely be due for at least 2-3 weeks of flirting with near record smashing warmth again. -

Any model that’s showing death ridging over us should be given about 1,000X more weight than the ones that aren’t. -

Really, really hate the direction the long range models are going in. A week or so of near average temps is the best we can ask for I guess.
