  1. - 5 departure today at SLE. -3 departure at PDX and EUG.
  2. Yeah 00z is colder. 522 thicknness line dips into NE Washington.
  3. 18z operational is still pretty dry down here, but points an absolute fire hose at Vancouver Island.
  4. "Blackhole" talked about them a lot in his Facebook posts about Utah weather too. He just got a job with the Phoenix NWS, which is pretty cool.
  5. 54/41 here yesterday. Looks like SLE came in with a -4 departure yesterday too.
  6. What people forget is that no matter how "stupid" a talk show host sounds, they make their living talking and arguing. You are not going to beat them at their own game.
  7. Next you will tell me Paul Ryan is a Republican! No seriously, maybe I will check it out and judge the validity. Would be interesting at least to see where they get their numbers from.
  8. My buddy went on as a guest with Lars once and got totally destroyed. It was so bad his mom called in the next day and disowned him. It was funny because he was a huge Lars fan before that happened. It is always good to bring up for a good laugh at his expense.
  9. Don't pile on the most oppressed minority in our country. We just got done with Self-loathing September.
  10. To an extent yes. It is just late October-March is so reliably damp and overcast. It kind of gets stuck in people's minds.
  11. Definitely a warming trend towards the 20th on the long range GFS. Perfect for a late month crash!
  12. In A River Runs Through It, Norman Maclean speaks to how his father as a Christian minister had to rectify his faith in the Bible, with present geological knowledge/theory. The idea of an entity creating the universe is something the mind cannot really fathom, but then the idea of a universe essentially coming to be is also quite hard to grasp. Either way there was some eternal force at play, which developed into something extremely complex and beautiful. As a person of faith I accept there are some things I cannot and will not ever fully understand or comprehend. And I also do not reject some of the answers "science" provides, while at the same time understanding that science will not and cannot provide definitive answers to everything, no matter the hubris of man. Some see science as proof their is no God, while others view the astonishing discoveries as evidence of an intelligent design, there are two sides to every coin.
  13. Next you will cite the Southern Poverty Law Center.
  14. That is silly. First of all believing in the theory of evolution or the idea of intelligent design has very little bearing on success in life or overall social acceptance. Think about it, we have people in our society who believe in the following things. Vaccines cause autism 9/11 was an inside job We have been contacted by aliens Obama was born in Kenya The list goes on. The idea a benevolent creator is responsible for the universe is the least of those worries. And chances are she will decide for herself what she believes, they just want to lay the foundation of what they as a family believe, and I think they have every right to do so.
  15. In Oregon we just had the shortest fire season of the 21st Century.
  16. My mother was a teacher and my brother and I were both homeschooled (We did attend public high school, I for 2 years, my brother all 4.). He's a lawyer and I have a pretty solid career, so the fact of the matter is she is probably receiving a much better overall education than she would at a public school, especially since her Dad has a background in education. People homeschool for a variety of reasons, and even though they may teach a different curriculum, they usually have quite a few reasons as to why they choose to educate their children that way. It is a tremendous time commitment, so not just something people would do on a whim.
  17. This is kind of silly. There is almost no conservative presence in higher education, especially at public universities. So of course the suppression in academia is one sided. Your examples are true if we are talking about the 1990s, but that was 20-30 years ago now. The dam broke in academia around 2012-2014, so examples from before that time are no longer relevant.
