  1. Then listen and learn. 2016-17 was the exception, not the rule. We've had what, 3 of the past 10 winters with decent snowfall. 2008-09, 2013-14, 2016-17. In our climate last winter was actually decent. January torched, but December and February were below average. And it snowed. In the 1950s or 60s last winter would have sucked, but if you compare it to the past 30 years it was OK. A ridge overhead with strong arctic air moving down east of the Rockies is a great east wind pattern...
  2. And apparently have no understanding of our climate, and no desire to learn. Great combo, it almost seems like pointless trolling...
  3. Hate to break it to people, but Portland had above average snowfall last winter. It kind of is what it is...
  4. Given it will be early December and the initial airmass is fairly chilly that should not be a problem.
  5. What's funny is what the FV3 shows would probably be a pretty good east wind setup.
  6. This is incredible. http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/tanal/mon2day.F.gif

  8. Honestly even though it is likely the vast majority of the cold air slides east it looks like a below average start to December in the PNW. Dry airmass that starts as pretty chilly and then transitions to "fake cold" probably.
  9. I'm actually pretty optimistic. Call me Phil, but I think in a decade or two all of this hand wringing will seem pretty silly.
  10. Well there would probably be a lot of fake cold if that run verified and my goodness that is some shot of cold going into the eastern half of the nation late in the run. Looks like no sign of the arctic express letting up.
  11. Gets chilly, but not cold. At the surface would be a chilly pattern though.
  12. I think the real winter weather potential will be generally north of Seattle and in that December 3-5 period. Just a hunch.
  13. Wow Kansas City is 27 with snow and winds gusting to 55mph right now. Totally insane for November.
  14. Not sure what that even means. But right now it is looking like about 0.50-0.75" for the Willamette Valley and about 1-1.5" up here. Could keep us from a top 10 dry November...Not quite sure.
  15. That little shortwave on Friday would be a good shot of mountain snow above about 2500'.
  16. Still only 41 at SLE in the fog. 46 with filtered sunshine up here.
