  1. Spokane is getting the worst of the air quality right now with hazardous air quality conditions. Some more smoke has begun to flow over the Cascade's and into the western communities.
  2. Agreed. I use that map often and the site for info. Glad you like it.
  3. Some really sad news coming out of Spokane County. The small community of Medical Lake (2020 pop: 4,874) and surrounding unincorporated communities of Silver Lake, Lakeland Village, and Clear Lake, have all mostly burned due to the Gray Fire which started Friday afternoon. The fire has spread quickly and has now burned over 185 homes according to KREM 2 out of Spokane. This is awful. Medical Lake has some historical significance in the state's history being home to an early sanitorum which still stands to this day and being located south of Fairchild Airforce Base. The entire City of Medical Lake has been ordered to evacuate. Hotels in Spokane are welcoming people in at the moment. Fire crews are working around the clock and the Spokane County Sheriff's Office is helping people evacuate. This is similar to a few years ago when wildfires ripped through the tiny towns of Pine City and Malden, completely burning them to the ground. Both towns are not to far from Medical Lake. A wildfire ripped through the towns of Malden and Pine City in 2020. Here is what is left of the Whitman County town of Malden.
  4. Smoke has not penetrated the low levels as much as models has predicted so far. Fingers crossed this remains the case for the Western Portions of our two States. The smoke will quickly clear out regardless starting Monday. As mentioned in my post yesterday, temps have underperformed in a lot of areas today.
  5. SUPER underperforming today. Only 68F as the high so far today. Smoke hasn't been bad, can't smell, but you can see it in the distance.
  6. Let's check out this AQI map tomorrow and Sunday... Thankfully a marine push begins again Monday, but it can be pretty thick and smokey for the region. Smoke from BC is going to POUR into Western Washington according the models. Smoke from the Cascades will douse the Willamette Valley. The whole region will be under soupy smoke. I'm thinking the smoke will keep forecasted high temps down. Expect underperformance in many areas.
  7. It can still change, but forecasting models are predicting smoke could inundate Washington and Oregon around the 19th or 20th of August. If this happens, it will be more than just high atmospheric smoke, but more low level, soupy crud we've had the past few years. Not sure on how long it will last yet.
  8. Absolutely GLORIOUS cool down and lovely late night. Onshore air came fast. I just came from outside and there is a constant cool breeze with some 10-15mph gusts. I can feel the ocean water misting occasionally and it feels absolutely wonderful. The trees are blowing with a nice white noise and there wind chimes are making noises. There is an owl hooting occasionally as well. Beautiful night, 61F right now. The cool down started suddenly. At 6:30pm it was 85F and by 8:00pm it was down to 69F. Very cool!!! It happened to rapidly.
  9. This is hot weather for Everett the past several days. We are -2F degrees the same time as yesterday. The forecasted high temp has also dropped -1F from yesterday. Curious about the temps from the high mountain top bunker of @TT-SEA! Lol! What's the difference today?
  10. The temps have been the same the last few days at the same time. This is essentially the same temp as Tuesday and Monday the day before. Yesterday we topped out at 87F. Today is possibly a degree cooler. Overnight temp last night was 60F.
  11. Thank you for answering! Hope you have a great day and stay somewhat cool in the heat. Lytton I believe hit a record high yesterday on a BC side-note. What's left of Lytton...
  12. I asked earlier but no one answered. Why are site 'reactions' not working? When I try to click a reaction button it says "there was a problem reacting to this content." Does administration know? Will it be fixed? It has not worked since August 11th.
  13. Hit 75F here a around 11:30pm and hasn't budged upward yet. I expect it too, but it hasn't.
  14. Smoke will be moving into Western Washington and Oregon Monday according to models with some heavy concentrations around Portland. The smoke is coming from fires in the Oregon Cascades for the Willamette Valley. Smoke for the Puget Sound is coming from the Sourdough Fire in the Washington Cascade's. Thankfully, by the 15th, onshore flow returns (despite the heatwave) and the smoke will be blown eastward.
  15. Everett, WA forecast is possibly over-done by a few degrees. It didn't hit the projected 85F expected today. Instead the same station hit 79F.
  16. Medford is the new Redding. Currently 107F at 5:45pm in Medford, ORE. The long-term forecast looks horrible. 111F on Monday and over 100F temps likely till Friday.
  17. Why are none of the reaction buttons working? Does administration know this?
  18. So far we haven't hit 80F. Just sitting at 79F. I am shocked.
  19. Just hit 79F here in Everett. Will we hit 80F? I am thinking, YES.
  20. Some good news on the smoke forecasting. The biggest producer of smoke in the PNW (outside of BC) is fires in central Oregon. It is all blowing east. That of course will likely change when we have the heat wave next week, and any change having winds blow west or north could be bad for the region. But for now, clean air for mostly everyone in Washington and Oregon.
  21. Heat wave coming to the PNW next week. A reminder to all, come to Everett's waterfront to cool off. Check out the ongoing summer events and lots of great restaurants! Take the free ferry with family to Hat Island (5 min boat ride) and have a picnic, play on the beach, etc! Temps here will be low 80s (likely just high 70s) compared to everyone else's high 80s and 90s.
  22. A little bit of everything coming up for Everett. Reasonable temperatures so far plus some much needed rain and 'cool' days. Hope it cools off for everyone.
  23. Models being posted here earlier were saying 90s and 100s for around August 7th. Even last week forecasts were showing at least 80s. All that has tampered down greatly with highs dropping to the low 70s in Everett and some rain. So those models showing 120 in Portland 10 days away are very unlikely. How have we not learned yet to not trust the models that far out? Lol!
