  1. I guess we had a debate about which state was better recently? I feel like it’s really hard to compare both of them. They’re both amazing in different ways and I don’t think either state in particular is better than the other.
  2. Lol yeah, more money and hours for me I guess. I don’t have anything to do with the construction just treat all the water collected on the site! I am up there almost every day and I can tell you most of the guys “working” up there on those jobsites are very good at looking busy but doin nothing. Just milking the government job hours.
  3. Have been working a lot up on Highway 18 recently has been quite wet with lots of water to treat. Was in the mid 60s this afternoon up there! Heard frogs croaking and even some bees flying around. Really good sunrise on a summer morning in January.
  4. Today was the 8th +50 high temp in a row here. 58/47 today, 60/55 yesterday and 59/49 on Saturday. Just a crazy torch hard to believe the port of Tacoma was freezing over just a couple weeks ago.
  5. That snow kind of gets overlooked compared to 2019 and 2021. Was a pretty big snowfall…the biggest we had in like 5 years at the time. It was like 6-10” across the south sound.
  6. Yeah, we could see some type of event like we saw on Super Bowl Sunday 2017. Quick heavy wet snow dump. We can definitely score something like that over the next few weeks without Arctic air.
  7. I’m hoping for something similar to early February 2020…which wouldn’t be too hard to pull off. Had 0.5” of snow on 2/3 and 2 sub 40 highs.
  8. Looking like we’ve got a good shot at an above average precip month. Up to 4.17” MTD as of this morning and another 4” projected through the end of the month on the euro. Temps have a shot at being below normal this month as well. Probably means we’re getting a February torch this year if January ends up alright.
  9. Had some light snow accumulation as far north as Olympia I believe. We had 2 sub 40 highs mid month as well and some snow in the air on the 14th. Was pretty decent cold for that late in the season. That event kind of gets forgotten with what happened in April 2022.
  10. I definitely think the majority of the rest of this winter will be hot garbage for sure. There will probably be one brush with a marginal airmass and low snow levels at some point next month…some lucky people might see something out of that.
  11. I’m not really feeling us getting something again this winter either but you never know! February just keeps going and going nowadays.
  12. Yeah, either way the real warm up commences soon. It’s too bad the best snow we got was a trace that got blown away by the wind and sublimated within 24 hours. I guess we just gotta hope we score some type of snow event in the next few weeks. If we can manage something from that then I’ll feel a bit better about this one.
  13. Do we have high hopes for February to deliver? I know some people have commented on it since we’re off the heels of some historic cold. My guess is February torches hard since it has been below normal every year since 2016. The last snowless one here was also 2016. Seems like we’re due for a sh*t one.
  14. Southerlies punched in for a few hours here this morning and we hit 43 degrees. Then a few hours ago offshore flow returned and we’re down to 37.
  15. Pretty sad for sure here as well in Tacoma. Even just an inch of snow last Thursday would’ve made this event so much more enjoyable. The historic cold was awesome but definitely sucks to be too dry on 1/11. Then too far north on 1/13…then too far south today. Trying to look on the bright side of how well we’ve done in the winters before this one though. It was record smashing cold for sure and that was cool. We were due for a dud snow event and a high end blast. Didn’t think we would be crossing both of those off the list at the same time lol.
  16. 43/33 temp spread today down to 38. Looks like we will be too far south for flakeage unfortunately.
  17. Rained at 32 degrees for awhile last night but never froze up. Must’ve been just a little too close to the Puget sound for ice accumulation. Low of 33 so far today. Wind has switched out of the north here…and dropped from 43 to 39. There is a nice C-zone to the north that looks like it has the potential to get here. Of course it’ll probably be too warm even if we get precipitation to get here. Overall a cruel boring way to end such a legendary arctic outbreak IMBY.
  18. Yeah I was thinking there must be something that we were missing. There’s no way all the models could be so far off the mark.
  19. It’s hard to imagine the euro and the other models being so wrong though. Like the low just falls apart and shifts north? Would be a really interesting scenario for the models to pick up on such a complicated scenario perfectly.
  20. It takes temperatures in the low to mid 20s to really see freezing rain freeze rapidly on contact. With these temperatures it takes longer for water to freeze.
  21. Tacoma narrows and JBLM down to 32. At this temperature it’ll take the ice some time to freeze on surfaces…but it’ll eventually freeze on the roads.
