  1. I am overall pretty optimistic still I feel like. I just am not excited IMBY about strong NW flow. Rarely works out here. This also isnt really a slam dunk snow event for most folks…but I’m sure some people will be happy!
  2. lol all I’m saying is these convergence zone set ups are never predictable. None of the models are going to pin everything down…but with NW flow somewhere in king county should do good.
  3. It’s just folks showing and believing which model shows the most over their house at this point lol. Nothing personal just business.
  4. You never know, could end up that way. Really could end up playing out differently than expected. I do think based on their being strong NW flow somewhere in king county will be the target however.
  5. Well I’m going to be working up in snoqualmie all this week. Snow up at 900’ a couple different days seems like a good bet. Really doubt we see any accumulation in Tacoma this week.
  6. Atleast up here in western WA. Will have to see how it plays out down south. February has had some really good late season events in recent years. 2018, 2019 and 2023 come to mind. When all is said and done I doubt it’ll be that memorable for most Puget sounders compared to those years.
  7. Precipitation here is probably going to be the bigger issue at my house early next week. It doesn’t look like much to work with in the central and south sound but maybe a little more in the EPSL.
  8. Yeah it’s unfortunate how bad that euro map is, some people probably will see snow but most of us below 500’ near the sound won’t get very much if any accumulation. Atleast here IMBY…the stuff early next week doesn’t look good here. Looks good for randy. Most of the snow shown is 6-10 days out.
  9. We need a Matt and Jesse selfie posted Monday at some point.
  10. Some other people might be but if the models are to be trusted we’re not in a favorable spot at all. The euro is showing much more than reality…same thing happened at this time last year. I’ve lost a lot of faith in the euro on 33-36 degrees snowfall set ups.
  11. yeah, wish things had worked out better this winter but some years just suck in the snow department. This just seems like a week of kitsap and 500’ snow levels coming up. I don’t think many places being shown to get lowland snow on these snow maps will either. Even the vaunted euro seems to really struggle in marginal snow situations nowadays. It does fine with non marginal temps but this set up it waaaay overdoes snow.
  12. I think a lot of people expecting to see snow along the I-5 corridor are going to be pretty disappointed when it doesn’t pan out. The typical spots will probably get some but most people probably won’t see more than some flakes mixed in with the rain.
  13. It’s basically over already…but doesn’t mean we won’t occasionally get some fog and cloudy days.
  14. Surprising how much snow is shown with those type of temps. Almost makes you wonder if most of us on the I-5 corridor aren’t going to see very much or anything unfortunately. Hopefully with the amount of chances we have coming up something will line up in the overnight hours perfectly.
  15. Yeah, I’ve heard it’s pretty amazing. Alaska and California are my next places I want to take my yearly vacation to check out all the national parks.
  16. Have always wanted to go to Northern California, but maybe next year. My big trip this year is going to be Vegas and a bunch of national parks down in the SW. Would really like to see the redwoods, lassen and Tahoe someday.
  17. It is interesting how we’re getting some La Niña like model runs in what you’d expect peak El Niño season like some people mentioned. The pattern is definitely a godsend for the mountains the next couple weeks…even if it doesn’t mean snow in the lowlands. Better late than never.
  18. In a perfect world I wouldn’t carry a gun either…but you never know who you’re going to encounter way out there in the wilderness. I know some people don’t feel it’s necessary and that’s fine I totally understand. In my opinion though those guys knowing I was carrying probably saved me from a bad situation.
  19. Most people way out in the wilderness are friendly. Almost every encounter I’ve had with hikers and campers has always been friendly. Most people way out in the sticks are genuinely nice friendly outdoors people. I don’t know what the deal was with those guys. I didn’t do anything to them I was just on a morning hike. I wasn’t on private property…so maybe they thought that area was “theirs” somehow and thought I was killing their privacy. It does freak me out that maybe if they thought I wasn’t armed that they intended to rob me.
  20. I came close to pulling my gun out on these guys who were driving their dirt bikes up and down this trail near me when I was by myself hiking a few years ago out near mt Adams. At first I didn’t think anything of the guys passing by me a couple times…but then they drove up the trail a ways around a corner and stopped. It was like they were trying to hide from me. I had a gut feeling that something was up. I had my gun in my pocket ready. I walked by him and tried to say hello to him to diffuse the situation…but the guys just blankly stared at me and didn’t respond. They were definitely not friendly and trying to intimidate me. It was extremely freaky how they kept coming by me up and down the road sizing me up. I kept going and they drove off and I didn’t see them again. I think they could tell I had a gun in my pocket I just never had to pull it out thankfully.
  21. I go camping/hiking a lot, sometimes some very remote places. Honestly people scare me way more out in the wilderness than bears or mountain lions. I do carry bear spray and a handgun for any situation…but I’ve seen bears out in the wild and never really been fearful. I’ve been in freaky situations seeing people way out in the woods multiple times. Part of why I don’t go by myself anymore.
  22. Yeah, it’s something I’m going to be more aware of. Even though the jobsites I work on are all like 50 yards or less from the freeway. There’s been a couple times where I’m just walking around in the dark at like 4 in the morning up there and just feel like someone or somethings watching me from the woods.
  23. That issaquah/snoqualmie area has had a few sightings and attacks in recent years. I work up in that area everyday…and I think I’ll try and be more cautious when I am up there at 4-5am. Even before the attack earlier this weekend I’ve thought about the times I’m walking around on the jobsites by myself.
  24. For awhile early on to me being here I honestly thought they were friends in real life or something and it was all some type of elaborate inside joke. I guess on a certain level it kind of is one big inside joke
