PNW January 2023 Observations and Discussion
Snowdome replied to Requiem's topic in West of the Rockies
Awesome day at Mt Hood today! Didn’t expect too much snow this morning but got about 5 inches in a couple hours and had a nice little pow day! No lack of snow there at least -
Crazy windy day here. I grew up with hurricanes and this felt close to a good tropical storm. Solid 12 hours of nonstop wind with some BiG gusts a lot of power outages but doesn’t look too bad in my immediate area,, I think feb 2021 took care of alot of our potential debris.
-
Still very windy in Oregon city. 2.5 inches of rain last 24 hours.
-
The station in OC still showing 31f but my home gauge finally hit 33. Hoping the ice will melt quickly today, a lot to do.
-
Still gaining ice in Oregon city. 27f

I’m around 400ft on the ridge above downtown. Very thankful we avoided a February 2021 repeat, we were without power 11 days on that event.

Walked down the street. Mostly ZR with some sleet still mixing in. About a little less than half inch of white sleet layered onto the street. light ZR now. I’ll get some pictures in the morning and can compare to the 2021 ice
-
I’m feeling like the gem may have had this dialed.. Still sleet here, maybe starting to mix with zr now
-
Sleet really stacking up already. Down to 18 now in OC
-
Some moderate sleet now in Oregon City.
-
Oregon City station just hit 19. Home gauge is still showing 21.
-
Down to 26 in Oregon City. Briefly touched 40 earlier.
-
Tie game and dumping snow now! Go bills!
-
-
Roads were pretty frost free up at Mt Hood in the afternoon, on the drive back going through east Sandy it was still super frosty there. 40/25 day with long lasting frost in OC

Checking in from the snow dome of Oregon City! Have lurked since moving here from a much warmer climate in 2020. Rode the models hard in Feb 2021 and my hopes and dreams were destroyed by over an inch of ice and a 10 day power outage. Anyways with all the snow dome talk, I’ll start adding some obs. 39/32 and foggy today
