  1. 12 years ago today, the frozen wasteland of Eugene turned to 40 degree rain.
  2. I'm pretty sure a depressing frog is the only thing that could save us.
  3. Can someone please remove the pinned recommended posts at the top of the thread. They aged like milk.
  4. TWL might keel over and die if we don't get him a white Christmas soon, so probably for the best.
  5. It barely snows more in Portland, Seattle, or Salem than it does here. When the Willamette Valley is snowy, Eugene is generally snowy as well. The lack of snow here is in your mind and you can't seem to get over it. Does Eugene get hosed sometimes? Yep. Those other areas do too.
  6. 42 degrees with moderate rain. Negative on the splat test.
  7. I can't stand it when the Central Valley runs out of temperatures.
  8. Absolutely gorgeous out. 55 and sunny, but feels much warmer than that. Of course, I'd prefer cold and snow, but that's not available for a while. This is the next best option.
  9. In Jan-Feb 2017, the Eugene lowlands had around 8" of snow in 2 events. Unfortunately, neither snowfall lasted too long, but it was nice to have.
  10. I'm pretty certain EUG would have seen a below zero temp in Dec 2009 had there been significant snow on the ground. That was one disappointing blast.
  11. Hmmm. 4 straight lows under 12, yet there was exactly zero snow on the ground. Clearly, this climate can no longer support such anomalies. BTW, ice hockey was being played on some ponds in west Eugene during that event.
  12. By far, the most annoying drivers are the ones that move here from a flat as a pancake midwestern town. Herr Derr we never close schools where I come from unless it's 12" deep. Meanwhile, their town has dry snow that almost always has much better grip than the 3 or 4 inches of wet slop that we typically get here and often freezes overnight into a sheet of ice. Plus their town uses 3 cubic miles of salt per year to melt the snow and rust out their vehicles. Not to mention that they have about 3 snow plows for every 5 residents.
  13. I just wanted a weenie. I'm unsure how Salem did, but Portland missed out a bit. Of course dolt ate that bag for that one.
  14. Salem north will get hammered again this year and Eugene will be stuck with 33 degree rain for days on end.
  15. That wasn't a car wreck. It was a 300 lb recycling bin crushing it. Btw, if anyone wants to see the carnage, I can link it again.
  16. I wouldn't be surprised to see Eugene have a 21" year sometime in the next 20 years.
  17. I had several minor wrecks as an idiot young driver, but none since I was 21 and I'm even older than you.
  18. 38 here. I put the thermometer in what looks to be the coldest part of my yard. The sun never hits anywhere close to it.
  19. It can snow in Eugene once December hits. It is super hard before that. Let's get this party started.
  20. It's December. Let's get this party started. Old man/he/him winter is ready to go. Hopefully, she/her Mother Nature will let this happen.
  21. 34 degrees under clear skies. Decent chance we could bag a 32 degree midnight low before clouds move in. Also a decent chance of seeing freezes just about every day for the next week.
