Just left work and shocked by the cold when I stepped outside. 19deg at 6pm!

Thought for sure we would have seen at least a dusting overnight here in seattle but nothing fell.

The radar loop makes me think this might be the arctic front that was scheduled for tonight. I am totally guessing here.
I think the moisture later tonight is from that bit of swirling clouds that is along Vancouver island that looks to swing into the sound area.

Looks like a small low developing off of the northern tip of Vancouver island. May be nothing but we see that happen a lot in these situations and can throw in some more moisture into the sound.

That was epic. I remember teaching that year and telling the kids on a Tuesday (I believe) before break to take everything home because I had a feeling that they wouldn't be returning, and sure enough, that was it for the year.
Does this really feel the same?
This similar as for today but not for the overall event as this one will be much more short lived.
-
Looks to be short lived though as the back edge of this intense precip is just passing the Olympics. Should drop a couple inches on top of the wet slush we had before drying out.

Reminds me of the switchover in Dec 2008.

Crazy change over. Went from heavy rain and almost all snow melted and 40deg to 31 in about 20min and heavy snow and everything covered including main roads.

You can see everything now on the satellite starting to sag south now.

You are in North Seattle. Good chance you stay snow.
I should clarify it is 32 now but the app upped the max temp tonight from 32 to 35. Obviously it waffles crazy now based on each model input but that low does look to go north.

Definitely warming here now with the dew point up to 30. Wunderground app just updated with the ECMWF info and brought my projected totals from 7” down to 3” and shows rain starting in a few hours unfortunately. Definitely jumped warmer to up to 35 tonight

That is a great pic!
It was last minute. Wife said the kids need to go to bed but I couldn’t resist and had to get the last bit of energy out of them. No snow clothes and my oldest son wearing my wife’s boots

Snow a little lighter now and temp went up to 31 but dp still in the upper 20s. Maybe between 1-2” now.

In the highlands??
I am in north seattle. I was in the Renton highlands living with the in laws the past year while our house was torn down and rebuilt in seattle.

Millimeters?
Haha. Have almost an inch.

Really coming down good now. Already passed the European amounts through tomorrow morning…

Temp dropped to 31 here and dew point still in the 20s. This should be good if the precip continues.

-
Snowing pretty good now and covering ground and cars. Looks like heavier stuff coming in soon.

Had a friend take this the other day. Leaves are still changing! @TT-SEA @snow_wizard
Came across this group of trees this weekend and completely took me by surprise.

This convergence hasn’t amounted to much here north of seattle. Dusting to maybe 1/2”. Its not sticking to streets yet but is still snowing continuously even under no precip on the radar. Does look like another batch is coming through in a bit.

I feel like cold intrusions in the past have come in pairs in the past roughly 4 weeks apart similar to this year. When they do occur though we don’t typically see another similar cold intrusion the rest of winter. We’ll see if this one will follow.
