  1. That cold air going out over the ocean acts like a lake effect and then gets wringed out in the convergences. I don’t know if models take that into affect but in the past they tend to underestimate it.
  2. Was 42 a few hours ago and now down to 35 and dropping with a dew point of 29 with moisture coming in and starting to snow.
  3. Ya out of nowhere it went from a heavy mist to big flakes.
  4. Just started snowing here in north seattle.
  5. The gfs technically saw this thing first a long time ago before the other models came around so maybe it is the king if we end up getting cold and snow…or it’s most accurate 7+ days out
  6. I thought he was joking but maybe he was bothered by the Oregon posters responding to his posts with complaining and Cascadia’s comment was the last straw. I thought the comment from Cascadia was pretty funny.
  7. I’ve posted this before but one of my favorite recorded events for me was February 2019. It was dumping snow with 40-50 mph wind gusts and drifting snow. 00CEC7D3-EA5F-41E8-99BB-3F08458FCF85.MOV
  8. Even if we get nothing out of this. We have been spoiled the last few years with having some fun model riding. We don’t even see periods of model runs like these every year so thankful for the fun we have already had with these and for the future runs we will still get.
  9. I feel like deep cold arctic fronts have been more rare but the larger snowstorms have been more common over the years. This makes sense if long term we are getting warmer and wetter. Some of the events in recent years may have have been drier colder events but these days turn into warmer snowier events.
  10. Leavenworth really getting hit hard with snow. Almost took the family over there yesterday on a whim before the snow hit but ended up not following through. Now I wish I could have experienced it. https://leavenworth.org/webcams/
  11. Maybe put dates in there. In the end not a big deal and still impressive to have a record cold week these days.
  12. Ya komo left that clarification out of theirs making it sound like the coldest week ever.
  13. This may have already been brought up but have seen it mention the last week was the coldest week in 78 years of record keeping for Seattle? That can’t be right.
  14. They sent out an email to the parents that the last day of school was 7/5 and a ton of the parents were pissed. I just asked my wife and she said they came back and switched it to remote learning on snow days.
  15. Seattle schools already go till after the 4th of July this school year because of the teachers strike.
  16. Really interesting to see some of the temps up north in Bellingham and down south in Tacoma currently reaching near 40 and this small are in central Puget Sound under heavy precip staying around freezing.
  17. Welcome. The family and I hit up the loyal heights playfield all the time. Starting to accumulate on the roads here.
  18. Looks like there is a little something building on the east side of the Olympics that might come this way soon.
  19. Weather app just bumped my snow amounts from 2” to 4” tomorrow for north seattle
  20. Worst case the mountains and ski resorts look to do really well staring this weekend.
