  1. Yeah, looks really good. I'm actually taking Friday off to make it a 4 day weekend. I think the Tacoma area should do well with the upcoming snowstorm. My wife already stocked up on food last night. So let it snow!
  2. The Anna's hummingbird is a year round resident of western Washington.
  3. Probably at least half the fun for me. I'm that way with vacations also, I love planning them . This forum is addictive. I want to keep checking all the time, not good for productivity.
  4. Does the CCP have a weather model? I never hear about the Chinese one for some reason, haha.
  5. We recently had our last outdoor faucet converted to a frost proof one. I don't really like the way they work, but it eliminates covering them.
  6. This is so much fun. Can you imagine getting paid to do this as a professional?! I almost majored in meteorology but didn't because of all the math involved. Should have done it anyway.
  7. Helping my son move from Ballard to Crown Hill on Monday. Might be slippery!
  8. BLI snowman is another one with lots of historical info.
  9. I agree. It's more about the snow for me rather than cold. I am very frustrated when we have a cold spell and then come out of it with gradual warming or rain. Seems like wasted cold air!
  10. That's a good point. We get shadowed a lot with systems coming in from the NW.
  11. Maybe it's been so long since we've had a true arctic front. I also don't seem to have memories of past events like some on this forum. I am amazed at how some of you can quote stats so quickly and apparently accurately of past weather events.
  12. Doesn't look good for Tacoma area. I almost never get much snow with arctic fronts coming south at the beginning of a cold spell.
  13. I work in park maintenance with people attempting to live in tents in our parks and it seems 90% have substance abuse issues, addiction and mental illness. Most don't want help or aren't capable of making a decision to improve their lives, unfortunately.
  14. Big UW family here. My wife and I both graduated from there. My son just got his degree in Informatics last June and my daughter is a junior at UW majoring in Psychology.
  15. Oh it is. Just bring up climate change/global warming or whatever it's called these days.
  16. Have you spoken to the ghosts from arctic blasts of the past?
  17. Ice storms are really the only extreme weather events I do not like. Well, maybe not 100 degree heat either. I work for the parks department and ice storms cause too much work.
  18. I went to Boston for the first time a year and a half ago and drove as far north as Portland, ME. Really loved the coastal area and liked Boston too, except for crazy traffic and parking rates! One issue is all our family is nearby here, so hard to go east.
  19. I won't be able to retire for 10 years and want to finish with 30 years with my current employer so I can't consider moving till then. But I would move for more snow. The problem is I don't like hot weather so that limits where I would be willing to go. I was actually looking at coastal New Hampshire for fun a couple of days ago. I would also consider moving for political reasons if things continue like they are around here.
