It's been vaguely similar to 2008 or 2011, but then again springs can be rather sketchy out this way. You can never count on consistent warmth until July in most years.

Snowpack is a big deal over here. If the snowpack cooperates, everything will be fine. Much of The Columbia Basin is irrigated anyway, so it will be all right.

Today was pretty nice.

All and all today has been a nice spring day. I have a feeling the rest of the trees will finish leafing over the next couple of days. Spring is here.🌦
-
I haven't seen any smoke here from wildfires, but I've seen and smelled some from controlled burns.
-
I don't think anyone is pulling for heat. Average temperatures and precipitation would be just fine. Let's start the growing season.
-
We could really use some rain. I would have applauded some zonal flow. It wouldn't have gotten as cold either. This spring has a 2008 or a 2011 feel to it. I remember the trees being mostly bare in early May 2008. Summer might arrive a little late this year. At least we don't live in North Dakota.

It will be nice when it warms up. We still don't have leaves on all of our trees. I want life to return. I need green. Colder than average equals death to our vegetation.

Exactly, it doesn't take much to have a drought or to be wetter than average. One good spring thunderstorm can right the ship in a hurry.

Since the late 1980s it's been that way. I can think of countless great Februaries since then. I can only think of a handful of good Januaries over that same period of time. -

I often wonder about the same thing. It almost seems like something else is at work. A colder than average January has been very difficult to achieve over the last 15 years or so. -

December 1982 was snowier than average. Both 1986-87 and 1987-1988 held snowcover from December through January. December 2015 was snowier than average. February to March 2019 was colder and snowier than average. Enso is a bit overrated in my humble opinion. -

We'll gain 2 minutes of daylight on the 15th. We'll be close to 3 minutes per day by the end of the month. -

It's like a movie from the Cohen brothers. Judah is no relation. I was hoping for Fargo, but we ended up with Raising Arizona in January. -
