  1. He brings the fireworks regardless of the holiday. All the days ending in -y qualify as holidays. Of course he always has a bottle of Wild Turkey nearby-to just wet his whistle. He's reliably unreliable. He needs a haircut. He needs to attend AA. And he needs a decent job like his brother the 12z.
  2. The 18z does not disappoint. The drunk uncle's rolling a joint.
  3. So, in a sense, those years are noise. January 1985 had a strong inversion. We were cold despite the ridging. Oh well.
  4. Most years I don't expect much in February. I'm satisfied with very little. Regardless, I've been very happy with its performance during the last 40 years. February has had some great events.
  5. Monster Cold Wave into the Midwest and Northeast.
  6. For real though, October 1984 had a wicked cold spell around Halloween. That la niña winter turned out nice. October 1949 had a decent cold spell. We all know how that winter turned out. October cold spells during el niños are like dancing to "Tango Del Muerte".
  7. DK says, "No bananas for you." We might be able to grow some though.
  8. I stepped outside, and I promptly stepped back inside. They ended up canceling school because of the extreme wind chill. I was giving the Home Alone fist pump.
  9. When I was a kid, we generally had snowcover from December-mid February. Highs in the 50s were unheard of in December and January. At one point, January was the coldest month. Now December is the coldest month. Spokane's climate has gotten milder in my lifetime.
  10. What a dud! Recent winters haven't been very cold. 2016-17 had snowcover for roughly three months. Feb-Mar 2019 was also a cold and snowy period.
  11. An October cold spell usually bodes well for a cold and active la niña winter. That didn't happen this year.
  12. It's 50f currently. This reminds me so much of 1999-2000.
  13. I remember February 1989. We had a high of -4f with winds gusting to 40 mph. I remember dropping to -24f in 1996. Coincidentally, both of those years were la niña years.
  14. The Tampa defense bailed him out during the NFC Championship game. He threw three interceptions in the 2nd half. Only one was turned into points.
  15. It looks like we start February with a 50 degree day. We had a 50 degree day in both January and December. It's been such a harsh winter.
  16. I think we need a souvenir to memorialize this fantastic winter. How about a well used pooper scooper? You can't sift through these model runs without one.
  17. That's about right. I was hoping it would be dumping snow, but instead I got a picture of a rhino dropping a load like a cement truck. Our best winter event was in October.
  18. I'm talking cold top to bottom. 1998-99 had a legit arctic outbreak and not much else.
  19. 1998-99, 1999-2000, 2000-01, and 2011-12 were uneventful niñas. You left off 2007-08, which was snowy but not very cold.
  20. I'm sure we'll build some healthy snowpack in March and April.
  21. We won't torch like December and January. I say good enough.
  22. Man, the Northeast has scored this winter. Even the South has done pretty well.
  23. The whole month was bone chilling. Every year January arrives, and I hope for something like that.
  24. January 1957 is a personal favorite of mine. What a beast!
