I'm just saying it's an obvious inversion pattern coming up. Ridge right over us, very high freezing levels, perfect surface pressure gradients. No way surface temps are going to reflect how warm the atmosphere will be aloft.

I've seen plenty of good fogversions in late January. We're only a month past the solctice for goodness sakes. Amazing how the inversion window keeps shrinking every year on this forum.

A lot of what he said in his speech is text book Steve Bannon. I'm sure he is responsible for a good percentage of what is about to happen. Many good things I might add.

Not sure if anyone heard about the classless tweet from an SNL writer which talked about Barron Trump being likely to be the first home school shooter. Attacking a 10 year old kid...really? They do nothing, but alienate themselves from an ever increasing percentage of the country.

Some people may need a reminder that just because we will be under a huge ridge early next week doesn't mean it's going to be spring like. On the contrary it will probably be running 6 to 10 degrees below normal.

GFS, ECMWF, and Canadian ensembles all show strong potential for cold in early February. It's amazing how many different outcomes the operational models are coming up with. The two part ridge with that rogue cutoff low are creating an incredibly difficult forecast challenge. In most situations this season the northern branch has ultimately won the day so I'm going with that idea.

I think climo is pretty unlikely given the context.

The ECMWF operational sucks tonight. The models can't figure out how to bring those two ridges together. Ensemble means are the way to go right now.

Do you seriously believe the behavior being exhibited by Hollywood, college professors, the media (ones releasing fake stories), etc are ok? They are coming off as being total looney tunes right now. As much as conservatives were put off by Obama we managed to be civil.

Incredible. An editor from Breitbart News was speaking at the UW tonight and serious violence erupted including a person getting shot. The left has just come unhinged since Trump got elected. Absolutely deplorable. It has gotten to the point where a conservative can't even speak on a college campus now. This is only going to make people support Trump even more.

It would appear the operational GFS is a huge outlier beyond day 10. It is in disagreement with all other models / ensembles (including its own ensemble). A retrogression and at least modestly chilly weather appear likely for early February.

I'm certainly eager to see if the improving trend continues on the models tonight. The 12z ECMWF ensemble was way better than previous runs.

How do you figure? He is totally different in the way he is approaching things.

I think that feature is dead. We almost always get a ridge sometime during the winter.

I came up with 5 in Jan 2007. Back in the days it actually snowed here.

Broke 50 today for the first time since late November. It was expecting too much to get through the whole week without doing it once.
