  1. Actually it becomes more prominent when it dries out.
  2. Another interesting aspect of the visible satellite image this morning is that the Willamette Valley looks sort of like eastern WA and OR. That is not clouds down there but a reflection of a dry landscape.
  3. Already up to 75 here and the clouds have evaporated... dewpoint at 58 so it feels really warm out there.
  4. But even with the low clouds... it already up to 70 at SEA at 9:30.
  5. Good start for the MM5 NAM... the other models did not show a solid area of low clouds this morning.
  6. Interested to see what happens tomorrow. MM5 NAM shows solid low clouds all day long... not the mid-level clouds we had today but actually low clouds. NAM MOS shows 80 and GFS MOS shows 81 and the cool bias ECMWF shows 83. None of those highs are possible with solid low clouds all day like the MM5 MAN shows.
  7. No... afternoons were the same length a month ago. Evenings were a little brighter a little longer.
  8. 82 here today with lots of afternoon sun... the middle level deck has become semi-permanent just to our northwest.
  9. The 00Z ECMWF also shows an odd area of low clouds around the Seattle area on Saturday afternoon with temps in the mid 80s. Strange.
  10. A little disconnect on the NAM... the 00Z NAM MOS guidance shows 81 on Saturday while the MM5 NAM shows 60s with low clouds all day.
  11. Dewpoint around 80 at Des Moines with thunderstorms. Too bad Phil is not going to the Midwest. Red Oak Iowa is reporting a dewpoint of 82 right now... same with Council Bluffs.
  12. Up to 74 at SEA now... warmer than I was expecting. Lots of clearing now around the Seattle area.
  13. Just remember that while Everett struggles to get to 70 that day... it will be pushing 90 in Portland.
  14. Here is the ECMWF surface map for Monday. Looks like an absolutely perfect PNW summer day.
  15. It looks like the PDO is crashing now... this is the 7-day change. A negative PDO and a ENSO neutral winter sounds like a good recipe to me. http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/ocean/cdas-sflux_ssta7diff_global_1.png
  16. And in just a mere 26 weeks we are gaining something like 22 minutes of daylight in the last 10 days of January and the cherry blossoms will be getting ready to open!
  17. So most of your trip is in Vancouver BC... beautiful city. Hopefully you can explore that area... maybe some people on here can you give you ideas for activities up there. Sounds like you will not make it out to North Bend. The drive from Bellevue to Snoqualmie Pass along I-90 (through North Bend) is gorgeous and there are lots of hiking trails all over the place if you have time on Monday. Its much more mountainous and lush than the Everett area. It takes about 45 minutes to get to North Bend from Everett. And another 20 minutes to get to Snoqualmie Pass. You can also visit your old stomping grounds around Stampede Pass... lots has changed and its growing fast! You might not recognize it.
  18. Well... an area in deep shade is probably still lush and is always lush regardless of the weather. But that is a poor description of current conditions overall. Most lawns will be very brown.
  19. Another traffic cam from Everett... if this is lush according to your uncle then he might suffer from the same hyperbole disorder as his nephew.
  20. I cannot imagine anything is lush right now... even in the frigid Everett area. Does he live close to the water? Are you going explore the area outside of Everett? Here is a live view of I-5 in Everett. Looks pretty brown to me...
  21. This climate sucks. I need to move to a place in the northern hemisphere that does not lose daylight during the last 10 days of July.
