  1. I still have some light to Moderate snow going on right now, going to measure soon but I'd say I might have gotten close to the 4" mark maybe even 5" Edit* I have measured numerous sites, the most reliable one would be the once that I always use, that areas has 5.0-5.5" with snow still falling! Location is St. Charles.
  2. I would be beyond happy, but I have to say this system did produce around 3-5" here so with another 2-3" I would be very happy!
  3. Haha my bad, you saw it as well! Hopefully we can tag on some more snow, but as you said, it does look like the main heavy snow will stick South of the I-88/I-80 corridors.
  4. http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=DVN&product=NCR&overlay=11101111&loop=yes Edit* Looks like there is a lot of redevelopment South West of the area, possibly bringing in some more snow? Looks like mostly light snow, with some pocket of moderate to even heavy snow! It may travel South of us, but as of now it looks like it is moving N/NE so maybe we can tag on another couple inches?
  5. Road Report Kane: all of the roads are snow covered, I also haven't seen a plow yet.
  6. Currently have heavy snow falling in St. Charles, easily accumulating on area roads as well!
  7. I have 5-9" for my area, St. Charles with LOT's point click. I think the Southward shift will be marginal, but it makes a difference. I still think heaviest band of snow will set up between I-80 and I-88, I am just hoping it's juicy enough and the ratios stay about the same. We shall see!
  8. I believe it is tomorrow's system 1-2" and then the bigger system for this weekend.
  9. Any estimates of snow now are shots in the dark. I think the most important part, like everyone said last night, was that it's continually showing a fairly significant storm. While there maybe dramatic shifts in the track and amount of snow, as of now, I am happy if it continues to show a big storm, until late this weekend.
  10. Well not the way I wanted to start my morning off, the furnace broke, thankfully the temps will rise a bit today.
  11. -10 here now, just went out for a bit, tried the boiling water and it was so cool! Haha, rather old but still so fun! Anyways, hoping to at least reach -15 tonight.
  12. Anyone think LOT will pull the warning early for the area, and go with an advisory?
  13. LOT updated their discussion, looks like they think that their previous temps were too cold, and update 3-7 degrees warmer. However, they still believe the coldest wind chills will be tonight to around 9 a.m. tomorrow. With -40 WC's possible in the North.
  14. Since I wasn't here for the last cold snap, this is a real treat! Walked outside and was pleasantly surprised by the brutal cold! Only -4 here as of now with a predicted low of -24, definitely not a good day or night be outside. Looking forward to this system coming up, that would be an awesome way to end and start a new month!
  15. Just saw a plow go by, still looks awful the roads covered again with the drifts! Plus, I just saw the first commerial plane in a while, wouldn't wanna be flying tonight that's for sure!
  16. I couldn't agree more, definitely one of the coolest/heaviest bands of snow I have ever been in! The wind here is nuts, glad LOT upgraded!
  17. I went outside about 15 minutes ago, in St. Charles, and could honestly tell you that it hasn't been that bad since the blizzard, completely white with the winds hollowing exactly like they did for the blizzard! Absolutely nuts!
  18. I can't wait for the wind and snow, haven't been this excited for the cold or snow in a while!
  19. Looks like LOT is going with a warning now for North Central IL with another 1-2" POSSIBLE
  20. LOT snowfall total increased to 1-2" for areas along I-88, also increased Wind Chills to around -36 for the northern tier counties, looking good if you love winter weather!
  21. I think almost all schools area wide will close tomorrow. It's going to be -4 for high, and if the wind chills are predicted to be -28 for tomorrow I doubt they would really want students driving into school. We shall see though, a lot of private middle schools have cancelled around here, now we just have to have a lot of districts start to close! Edit* CPS is deciding on whether to close, if they do, it is almost a sure bet that the other districts area wide will cancel as well
  22. As of now it's 18 degrees with a predicted high of 25, with a low of -6, I still think it's possible to reach it, but it may be endanger if the temps keep climbing higher and higher.
  23. With these extremely cold temps coming in tomorrow night, is there a possibility we will be under a Wind Chill Warning for 57 hours!? Seems crazy to think about! That prediction was made based on a WCW from 12:00 a.m. Sunday to 9:00 a.m. Wednesday. Also, does anyone know if the temps will actually hit 14 on Wednesday? Seems a little far fetched with a predicted low of -15 Tuesday night.
