I’ve never felt stressed by “gloomy” weather.

Shortening days in the fall do trigger my SAD. But that has more to do w/ my circadian rhythm, doesn’t matter how sunny/cloudy it is.

Back in my younger days, which were the olden days of the 1980’s to early 90’s, January thru March were awful for me. The only bright spots would be if we had snow. I was addicted to fishing as a kid and all I could think about was getting to April…Opening day of fishing season! But I hated school, and those dark wet days just seem to drag on forever! 🤢🤮

This forum back then would have been huge to get me through. Instead it was playing a lot of Mario on the original Nintendo.

All this mileage talk reminds me of the opening scene of the movie Used Cars. Classic.

Oh my God such a classic!! My dad and I would watch it every so often. And that odometer roll back scene was kind of real life for me! I traded in my 1999 Tahoe back in 2010 to a local GMC dealership. It had nearly 180,000 miles on it, I see it at a little crappy used car dealer in Marysville a few weeks later (I’m sure it was auctioned) on their lot and it had the big numbers on the windshield that said SALE $15,000 dollars! I laughed at that as it was not worth anywhere close to that! It was definitely my Tahoe as it had unique exterior aftermarket accessories (and missing passenger side vent visor) and exhaust system. Anyway I stop and look at it, the dealer was closed at the time and something told me to peer inside at the dash…My 170k+ mile Tahoe suddenly had 107k on it! (Those still had the analog roller type odometer)

Long story short is that I sent an email to DOL and suddenly a few weeks later that shady dealer was no more lol.

While we are on the topic, my Subaru has about 217K miles on it now. I bought it in 2018 with 70K miles on it. Planned on buying a new/used vehicle this year, but IDK... Probably save up to buy something with cash to avoid being raped by interest rates.

Yeah it would be hard to swallow financing a vehicle right now, I’m still paying on my truck but at 0% financing that GM had going at the start of the pandemic, I’m definitely good with what I have for quite a while!

I spied 191,000 miles there.   Our Expedition has the exact same mileage.    We have 5 cars between 4 drivers (my wife and I and two sons) and all of them have 100,000+ miles.   We never buy new.   I am a disappointment to the real 1%ers like @Deweydogand @MossMan!

Our old Expedition is only used for hauling the boat now so we have to keep it around.

My wife's Subaru is up to 125,000 miles now, she intends on driving it until our 10yr old turns 16 and then handing it down to her and getting something different. My truck that I bought new right at the start of the pandemic shut down now has 47k on it, and I plan on keeping it for several more years. It tows our 30yr old boat very nicely! Rest stop side shot this week while towing it home!
