  1. Well other than assessing how damaged my BBQ, it looks like my yard stayed intact for the most part. It's nice that my large evergreens are all on the north side of my property so the woods took the mess and not my yard. Will be interesting to drive around today. Going up to the lake house to see how bad it is, it's usually a huge mess.
  2. Power just came on at 5:10am, lost it last night at around 8:30ish. Longest non snow outage since Dec 1995! This storm does trump Dec 2006 for my area, it was insane last night and did remind me more of Dec 1995. Will be interesting to see my yard when the sun comes up.
  3. I can't help but think about the similarities with this year and 2006/07 so far this fall.
  4. Just sitting in the darkness listening to the roar outside...I forgot just how much I love windstorms!!
  5. Wow, you really must be sheltered. Currently giving its all here to your west.
  6. Defiantly the biggest windstorm in years here, must be gusting in the 60mph+ range now.
  7. And the power is out. My wife is still determined to finish dishes.
  8. Transformers now blowing all around us lighting up the sky, it's insane out there! Pretty run of the mill!!
  9. Wild night here, when the wind first started here a couple of hrs ago our power immediately went out. Happened right as we were leaving for my company Christmas party. Made it through the party in Stanwood, and as we are driving through town everything goes dark! That was cool to see! Then we arrived home about 15min ago, and we have power but had one casualty...my BBQ That thing has been in the same spot for 6yrs and I have never had this happen!! And man right now it is rocking and rolling outside! My dogs are not happy campers at all.
  10. I have sure missed Dec 2006 Tim!! Glad to have you back
  11. They explained their reasoning, and it sounds...reasonable! Lots at play with this.
  12. So every model is saying no wind? Perfect, we will have a windstorm!!
  13. You have been saying this for two days now, yet NWS Seattle has not dropped the High Wind Watch. You might want to contact them and let them know of their error
  14. Getting a touch breezy out there, just had a gust rattle my windows!
  15. Sounds pretty run-of-the-mill overall. Sorry I had to say it Anyway yes today defiantly felt like a record setting type day. If it wasn't for the sideways rain hitting me while I was in Anacortes today, it would have been a lovely, warm day today!!
  16. I remember there was talk at my school of an early release during the start of the Inauguration Day storm but they held off, that was a mistake as many routes were blocked by trees. I had just recently got my License so as soon as the power went out at school I got the heck out of there and made it home before trees blocked my route. God that feeling of freedom was amazing! beating a windstorm in my 1975 Chevy ElCamino! Oh the good old days!
  17. Yeah I spend way too many hours on it, but it does make a big difference!
  18. True! People just need to be smart about it, have the trees checked out to make sure they are healthy, ect. Keep the healthy ones, eliminate the ones that might be a danger. I kind of take things to the extreme, though. Even down to my vehicles. I always make sure they are all in 100% ready for weather...even down to waxing them again if it looks like cold and snow is coming since it is a little added protection against the road chemical & sand that they will be getting blasted with. Anyway, it has been one of those dry, breezy, and warm mornings up here!
  19. Yeah its amazing just how many people turn a blind eye, or don't even think about weather and how it really does effect life in general...until a tree cuts their house in half.
  20. That is one of the first things buyers should consider before buying, look up and take a look around! Are there any trees that could possibly be large enough and close enough to the house that it could do major damage or possibly injure someone inside. And if you really want the house with towering trees all around it, do something about it after purchase. But I am one of those people that look at all the "what ifs" before doing anything. Think it drives my wife crazy sometimes!
  21. I noticed that, probably keeping things short until we get a little closer to the event. They did freshen the High Wind Watch this evening!
  22. I thought this forum was for tracking all types of weather...perhaps I am wrong? If this upcoming storm had potential of producing a major snow event, there would not be brush off that many here are giving this potential major wind event. The raw power of a windstorm is just amazing too me! And I for one will be tracking it closely, and watching DJ's awesome updates on it!!
