  1. Putting up the Christmas lights tomorrow, that should turn the models arctic.
  2. Seems like there is a lot of bouncing around with each model run even with the ensembles... everything is still on the table for the coming weeks.
  3. 38 and mostly cloudy currently. According to my Facebook it was two years ago today that we had the windstorm that knocked out my power for two days. If I remember correctly it was a west wind that got my area...which always creates havoc with the trees.
  4. Was pretty good up here, sat on the porch and watched all the flashes in the distance of the transformers blowing and the roar through the trees was an awesome sound! Lost power for about 24hrs.
  5. 1995/96? Nice blast the second half of January 1996!
  6. Another white Christmas would be just fine! Heavy snow falling on Christmas morning like 1990 and 2008 is absolute perfection!
  7. For up this way not much has come close temp wise to the -2 I had at my house (-4 in Arlington if I remember correctly) on the morning of Dec. 20th 2008. I think we got down to near zero in the late 70’s (think it was in January) but I was only around 3 or so years old so that one is a little hazy. Upper single digits has been slightly more frequent like Nov 1985, Nov 2006, and Dec. 2009. Just to name a few but that morning in Dec. 2008 was something else up here!
  8. Been horribly annoying...every single one since 2012 has been a trickle that takes days to arrive and by then whatever snow that does fall melts before it gets cold enough. I miss the flash freeze days where the temp drops rapidly during the middle of the day during a dump of snow. Seems like that used to be the norm for Puget Sound...the new norm of these back door events is just painful.
  9. I have news coverage of this event on VHS that I taped at the time and will occasionally pull my VCR out of the closet and watch it...it was epic!! Another super memorable thing was the original forecast was perhaps a rain snow mix but nothing special...well I remember being at my grandparents house on Christmas evening and they always had the radio on in the background and I suddenly overhear that there was a major shift in the forecast and that a winter storm warning has been issued for Olympia north to the border...I no longer cared about any Christmas festivities and all focus was on getting home to my weather radio! It was magical!!!
  10. This was all we had for the Dec 2013 overriding event. Snowed the morning of the 20th and was about gone the next day. Dec 1996 I had 2 feet of snow for that overriding event...it was epic! The biggest thing I remember was during the day of the 28th the temp rose to 36 degrees and I was thinking we were going to bust big time but by about 2pm the temp started dropping and by the time the precip started that evening the temp plummeted down to 15F and it snowed heavily all night before turning to rain mid morning of the 29th which turned the 2 feet of snow into massively heavy concrete collapsing roofs all over the area.
  11. 2013 was pretty boring other than one little snow event up here that lasted a few hours. I would like to order up a 2008/1990/1996/even 1998 was more exciting.
  12. Late this afternoon seemed windier than yesterday, lost power at work for a few hours.
  13. I thought that was the time that lawn furniture was flying into your yard last year?
  14. Awesome, thanks for posting this! Another reason to be very hopeful about this winter!
  15. I was washing my truck in shorts on Thanksgiving 2008 and was very concerned as well...until the greatness started just a couple of weeks later!
  16. Will be fun to see which model ends up caving.
  17. I remember washing my truck around Thanksgiving 2008 wearing shorts and short sleeves and wondering to myself if winter was going to show up or not...and we all remember what happened a few weeks later!!
