  1. It's like: why even bother placing TWO counties in a WSW when everything else is a BW. Ha! I'm just happy that we had this SE trend. Hoping for a good amount of snow throughout the day tomorrow!
  2. I'm curious why OAX chose a WSW for Omaha and a BW for Lincoln. Are the winds really going to be that different?
  3. Looks like Hastings NWS is buying in to the SE trend by adding a few more counties to the east of the original WSW. Will be interesting to see if OAX follows suit!
  4. Is it just me or did the latest HRRR from 03z move the heavy band in SE Nebraska *a little* to the west from 02z's run?
  5. Jim Flowers has a good video on his Facebook page for Omaha showing that it could be warm enough at the right heights for primarily cold rain, at least in the metro. Latest GFS seems to have cut down amounts on everything in our area.
  6. So, I pulled up the SREF plume viewer for Omaha and was surprised to see such high amounts...because there aren't really that many models showing anything more than a couple of inches. I know that the models in this tend to overdo it some (especially on the higher end), but perhaps we could get a little more than we're currently expecting?
  7. Cause and effect: Jim Cantore comes to Omaha -> model amounts go down. Jim Cantore leaves Omaha for Sioux City -> models go up. Hmm...
  8. The 18z GFS is looking beautiful for Lincoln and Omaha: http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/gfs/2015122118/gfs_asnow_ncus_30.png
  9. http://i.imgur.com/PEchNXk.png I'm going to have to plan ahead for next Monday according to OAX.
  10. Is it just me, or does the 18z NAM look a LITTLE bit better for Omaha?
  11. Winter Storm Watch for Omaha! 3-6 inches. http://forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx.php?warnzone=NEZ052&warncounty=NEC055&firewxzone=NEZ052&local_place1=2%20Miles%20NNW%20Omaha%20NE&product1=Winter+Storm+Watch&lat=41.2916&lon=-96.0303#.Vk4_OLerTmE
  12. This is weird: At 9:30 pm, Hastings said they were contemplating issuing a Winter Storm Warning for their eastern counties, but after consulting with OAX, they decided to leave it a high-end advisory. 30 minutes later they issued a Winter Storm Warning for their eastern counties. I wonder if they (and OAX) had a change of heart?
  13. Is the 18z GFS looking a bit cooler for Lincoln and Omaha than previous runs? OAX said they thought the NAM was too cool, but it looks like GFS is trending that way, with the ECMWF having been cooler for quite a while.
  14. I posted on Jim Flowers' FB page and said I was wondering if OAX would follow suit. From his answer, I think he's wondering the same thing. And looking at the radar returns, I think there could be enough snow, and definitely enough wind, to cause near whiteout conditions...at least for a while. Hmm...
  15. The NWS in Sioux Falls has upgraded their WWA to a Blizzard Warning, and they're supposed to get even less snow than Lincoln and Omaha. It will be interesting to see what happens.
