    Rain is coming down at a decent clip now. Still getting a slight sw breeze, but it has calmed down a lot over the last couple of hours. 40 degrees.

    Power is out in my neighborhood for the rest of the night. A branch fell on top of the line down the street, caught on fire and then I heard the transformer blew. Going to be a cold, dark and incredibly snowy night here!

    Been a wet and breezy day. Only at 43 degrees right now. True western Oregon winter weather with a chance at seeing my first snow of the season tonight!

    The GFS is being a stubborn bastard. Definitely scaring me.

    Euro has been very persistent in showing that the Portland metro area is in a good spot tonight. Not expecting a bunch of accumulation, but we should at least get some wet snow in the air!

    GEM shows a similar setup, just further to the south than GFS. Pretty wild pattern.

    Keep in mind that NAM is usually pretty bad and way too aggressive with cold air at this timeframe.

    It isn’t looking great down there tbh. The upper levels probably will never support snow this weekend since the cold air just isn’t going to dig that far. Maybe some freezing rain depending on how the models trend over the next two days?

    Breeze is picking up here and the temp is starting to creep up. 47 degrees now. Hopefully this is the last really warm night for a while.

    Yeah. Honestly the models have done this to us more often in the last 5 years than they even did when I was younger. Maybe this pattern has just been more common lately. This will join a list of other recent events where the Euro shows a major regional blast 5-8 days away and we just end up with a trickle of cold (or nothing) down here. Models still haven't mastered our weird corner of the world.
