  1. Working on it, no different than going somewhere to find the sun and warmth
  2. If I can line up someone to cover me at work we are going to try and go to Valdez Alaska or possibly other places in Alaska late next week for a bit to enjoy more winter weather and escape what's coming here. Hopefully I can find the help! Should be fun.
  3. Some people enjoy throwing a lit cigarette out the window as well.
  4. I have had ten degrees at my cabin in april a few times.
  5. God that makes me sick just to think of that heat. 80 is one thing but 100 is insane. It would be like hitting 10 degrees in April, just insane.
  6. What is the latest Seattle has recorded 4 inches of snow?
  7. Makes you wonder how this year would look with the same infostructures as the 50's and 60's had. More pavement, buildings and planes has had to of warmed that sensor some.
  8. The classes i went to last summer talking about the Okanogan stressed how important the snow pack was going into spring because most fires up there spread on the ground and underbrush so a slow melt of the snowpack through April and may is very important. That wildfire 2 years ago opened my eyes and i wanted to learn more. At one point it was the largest wildfire in the lower 48. Keeping the underbrush down and trimmed is huge, we found a program where the forest service will pay us the clean our own property. they come out and look at the proposed area, we do the clean up and they come out and inspect and send the check. They pay 20 per hr for just a grunt and 50 per hr to a person running a saw. Crazy there are programs like that.
  9. Problem is that clear cuts and the undergrowth that develops under these young forests isn't natural so when a wildfire starts they have more fuel at ground level than they would under a old growth forest. The canopy was so high in those old growth forests that the fires had a harder time spreading.
  10. It's amazing how smoky it is here now. Growing up here there was NEVER any smoke at all I the summers and even the hot summers.
  11. And i love warm weather just like anyone else but i see no enjoyment of it in march and early April when i know for a fact it is increasing our fire danger every hr that goes by. A couple years ago i had to watch a large part of the Okanagan burn and had to empty out my cabin in fear of loosing it. Scary stuff. These dry spells in March and April are causing major issues.
  12. Me and You actually see the problem with this stuff, A couple other people on here only see the opportunity to cruise down to the grocery store with there sunglasses and shorts on pretending to live in a warm climate. We get a couple weeks of winter weather and then have to suffer through a record ridge and warmth.
  13. Very cold for march, Cabin was 28 yesterday and had a low of 2.1 above. That is almost the coldest i have seen in march there since i got the land.
  14. We are heading to cabin Friday, Going to be a snowy weekend at the cabin.looks like about 4-8 inches and the snow level stays below 3k feet, we are 3800. Hopefully the death ridge only stays a couple few days. It would be terrible to loose most of that precious mountain snow so early. I spend a BUNCH of time in the woods in the high country, much more than almost anyone on here and the snowpack issues are very noticeable. The Okanagan highlands are only about 65% and that death ridge will wipe out most of that snowpack much to early. March and early April are big snow months there above 4k feet.
  15. The dry period will not last 7 days, 100% promise. And no its not worthless because it has picked up on patterns that far out before even dry ones!
  16. Really like the end of the gfs. Looks like we will go right back into a trough period after a brief dry spell. Really hope we stay out of the 60's, already planning on going to the cabin during that ridge period because it will be much cooler there with plenty of snow still on the ground.
  17. Warm ups and cool downs are normal in spring, lets just hope the warm part don't take over before its time for warm weather.
  18. Another great Mountain snow pattern We shouldn't loose much snow from a few days of average to maybe a little above average temps after this pattern shown. Good chance we get into another chilly period after the ridge anyway for more mountain snow building.
  19. Lost lake is 2 miles from my property. Cabin hit 4.4 there were some below zero reading also
  20. check your account Tiger. Medication funds sent!
  21. Drama, it's been fun people. Pulling the plug.
