  1. Another reason why you don't want to trust your weather app or weather.com: It is showing Bellingham with highs in the 40's this week and with higher temps than Seattle.
  2. Easterly flow brings heavy snow to the East Slopes, but this shows pretty light snow for my location. Unheard of for Wenatchee to have 12 inches and Leavenworth only 5 inches. Just doesn't happen. Of course models do not handle terrain very well.
  3. Very odd that the GFS has dry places like Quincy, Moses Lake and Ephrata getting more snow than the heart of the Cascades. Not buying that.
  4. I don't think 1-2 inches of snow tonight with highs in the upper 30's this week in that area will help you very much.
  5. I remember November 2006 in Sudden Valley when it was snowing in Bellingham and raining in SV. Very frustrating, but it finally turned to snow and we got a good amount.
  6. Though I dont live on Western Washington anymore, it was a great read, and a MUST read for any of you who do. I think you should all bookmark his blog.
  7. I go to the actual address at the top and substitute 180 for 60 or 90 for 60 and hit enter. That works.
  8. 10.5 inches, high of 17. One of the greatest snow days of my life.
  9. I think it was pretty much a region wide snowfall, not sure about Oregon. I seem to remember about 10 inches or so. WWU closed on Wednesday, it otherwise would have been open only a half day since it was the day before Thanksgiving. That was rare for it to close for weather, at least back then. During the cold snap, not necessarily that day, I remember seeing temps in the single digits at night. I remember being frustrated that other places got more snow than Bellingham (until then), though we had some snow before. It was a pretty long lasting cold snap. A lot of students at WWU ended up being stuck there for Thanksgiving, when normally the dorms close, so the University had to scramble to find a way to feed them. There was news coverage from Seattle about them being stuck in Bellingham for the holiday. On the Sunday night, we had heavy snow, but it turned to rain and ended the cold snap.
  10. Which one? I remember several snows. The big one just before Thanksgiving is the one I will never forget. I was in Bellingham. It had been cold for quite awhile, we had some snow, but other places had more. Forecast that day, Tuesday, was for a few flurries. Then it got cloudier and cloudier and was snowing by noon and did not stop. Epic. I think a little low spun off the coast and strengthened, and just drew a bunch of moisture from the ocean and dumped snow over us. Snowed all evening and was clear the next day. I remember how quiet the city was because no cars were driving
  11. "We've seen some dorritos!" I wish I had seen it before, it is brilliant. It was made 6 years ago. Wondering if Jim Foreman himself has ever seen it.
  12. In Seattle it is Jim Foreman from King5 that they always send out. I am constantly amazed at how many times the top story on the Seattle newscasts is rain. Not rain that causes floods, or rain in the summer that can help out with wildfires, just plain old ordinary rain, and time after time after time it is the top story in the news, usually the 11PM news.
  13. People living in those areas have to plug their cars in all the time during the cold.
  14. I have found in my area the WRF is way, way more accurate than the global models when it comes to snow, though it is only useful within 48 hours max. That might also be because of the terrain here.
  15. Canadian model cooler than last nights run so far. Particularly north of Vancouver.
  16. 0z runs are 4PM our time, close to the warmest time of day. 12z is 4AM, close to the coldest time of the day
  17. I was in Bellingham then, and liked the March event more. We had way more snow with that than the big blast. That was just dry, cold, and windy.
  18. Quite a bit colder than the 12z run. 18z only goes to 120 hours so did not compare.
