  1. 06Z operational shows chilly weather still around the 24th and beyond. Ensembles seem to be trending cooler...
  2. No frost here, but a beautiful sunny morning with clear air!
  3. After observing some of the posters on this forum thread, fairly difficult, I'm guessing.
  4. Interestingly enough Portland broke the high temp record for today... which was set in 1955.
  5. I believe that 74mph was measured differently... I think the NWS considers it 62mph.
  6. I'm continuing to have intense wind gusts easily over 50mph east of the river...
  7. According to the NWS that 62mph gust at PDX was the strongest since the '95 storm.
  8. Yep, I just saw someone out for a "normal" afternoon walk with a stroller, fighting with the wind. Meanwhile, my building seems to be swaying slightly and I'm getting nauseous.
  9. PDX set a new record high today of 63, breaking the old record of 61 set in 1955.
  10. KUAO (Aurora, OR) is gusting to 61mph! Portland is now sitting at 63F with gusts to 40. It's getting very windy at my place...
  11. It's getting blustery here. Estimate 35-40mph gusts. Looks like KRDM lost power...
  12. Wind is increasing here steadily. Still pretty sunny and very warm but clouds have been zipping by overhead.
  13. Somehow I think they're still skittish after the Winter Storm Warning bust last month. At this point the best course of action would be to continue with what they've got... we'll just have to wait and see what happens this afternoon.
  14. I live a few floors up in a building completely exposed to the south, and while not a major one, October's storm was by far the strongest I've experienced since I moved into this place three years ago. It was exciting, yet at times the gusts were a bit nerve-wracking and were causing the building to creak and move. The October storm was also the first to cause a power outage here after a couple hours of intensely flickering lights.
  15. My school in the Portland area closed early on 12/12/95 for the storm.
  16. Too bad the east wind is relentless in the Portland area – it hasn't really been above mid-50s here for a while.
  17. Heh the wax is smart... Reminds me of the time I ended up inadvertently following a deicer truck on the way to work several years ago. That stuff is a sticky mess! It also didn't help at all when the sleet, snow, and freezing rain hit a few hours later.
  18. Isn't that a new all-time December high? Edit: bainbridgekid beat me to it!
  19. This. Especially if you're a weather geek, if you buy a house with large trees around it and don't do anything to mitigate the risks from windstorms, that's entirely your fault.
