  1. Should we start up the cooler waters off the coast, cooler temps on land debate?
  2. Things got bad really fast around the province yesterday. The news is reporting 36,000 people have been evacuated as of this morning.
  3. We have a cabin to the SE of there. Sounds like the fire was burning on the north end of town, between 103 and 108 Mile. My mom called and said there wasn't any fire too close to her. Provincial state of emergency has been issued as fires flared up all over the province today.
  4. That fire burned 8000+acres in the past 5 hours.
  5. The town of Cache creek has been evacuated due to a wildfire. Hard to believe just back in May the same town was hit by flooding that took the life of their fire chief. Rough couple of months there. https://www.google.ca/amp/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4195351
  6. Some serious flare ups in the BC interior today.
  7. Getting pretty dry now. Campfire bans in effect. Looking at some BC webcams you can see the smoke plume, on the begbie summit cam, from the fire that broke out near 100 mile house this afternoon.
  8. They are really struggling to figure things out for next week.
  9. I'm at home. It's 82F in my living room. 73F outside. Had a high of 87F today. Felt good to work up a nice sweat at work today.
  10. Speaking of wildfires, there were 100 homes evacuated and at least 2 burned in the Okanagan today.
  11. Nope, sunny or it's a no go. It's going to be our first family gathering there since my dad passed away in March. Would be nice to spend some time doing the things we loved to do up there.
  12. Seems like those analogs have been deemed unreliable. Hopefully the weather finds a way to be nice next weekend as we are heading up to our cabin for a few days. Sounds like we have some windfall trees to clean up and hope to get a sunny day or two on the lake.
  13. It was an usually dry June in the interior, statistically the wettest month of the year some places. Kamloops for example had 0.13" in June. It is normally their wettest month with an average close to 1.5".
  14. After a record wet spring much of southern BC has dried significantly after a very dry June. Fire danger ratings have increased high to extreme in many areas.
  15. I don't think whitetail is the part of Montana that you are looking to move to. But, If it is I could give you his number when the time comes.
  16. My uncle has a house and some farmland in Whitetail. I could probably get you a good deal if you're interested.
  17. Wind switched westerly late in the day up this way. Pretty common to see a spike in temps when that first happens. The SE sea breeze reverses to more of a westerly offshore downslope type wind, at least until the cooler air arrives from the west coast, which takes a few hours typically.
  18. A bit of stratus here this morning but it cleared quickly. Managed a high of 80F here late yesterday afternoon
  19. It did end up 1.3F cooler than 2016, obviously 2015 was even much warmer than that. Even a bit of an easterly sea breeze into Shawnigan Lake the last two days. Temp sitting around 73/ 74F.
  20. I might break down and buy an air conditioner. I don't mind the house being warm/ a little hot, but my wife and baby are getting whiny.
  21. +0.9F. Quite a bit cooler than last June there.
