  1. It’s banned in the USA and rightfully so. It’s still legal though in other countries for some reason. I’m surprised their mascot illustrates what exactly it is but then again it’s just a mascot.
  2. The gamecock is a type of rooster that is specifically bred for cockfighting. Cockfighting has been a big part of American history especially in the South. The South Carolina Gamecocks logo even has the blade on the roosters ankle which they use to fight the other rooster with.
  3. My condolences Chris. I’m glad you are better now!
  4. Good setup for offshore to reach the beaches again.
  5. The NWS out there says it’s not that uncommon. Good news though, looks like rain is coming on Friday that should help with the wildfires. “According to NWS offices in Washington, D.C. and Blacksburg, Virginia, the amount of fire activity is not unprecedented when compared to previous firestorms over the last few decades. Widespread rains are expected to drench the region on Friday but not before another dry day, with relative humidity values of between 10% and 20% on Thursday.” https://www.foxweather.com/extreme-weather/mid-atlantic-fire-outbreak.amp

  10. Another gorgeous day! PDX with a high of 75 today. Just missed tying the record high for the date set back in 1947. Third straight high in the 70s and two more are likely before cooler weather arrives.
  11. Congrats HuskyMaestro, we are all proud of you! All your hard work has paid off.
  12. Welcome to the forums Blowtorch ! Looks like you’re from Phinney Ridge up there in Seattle. No wonder you like ridges!
  13. Beautiful rainbow trout! I need to go out fishing soon, they have started to stock lakes down here. Are those stocked or wild trout?
  14. SEA also had a record high of 74 yesterday. Quillayute hitting 80 is impressive for March. That ties the record high for the same date at PDX set back in 1947.
  15. PDX up to 76 as of 4pm. SEA also up to 70. Woodland leading the way at 77!
  16. Beautiful day to be out at the Coast. The Coast leading the way again today with the warmest temperatures as of 1pm. PDX is already at its high of yesterday but with still 3 hours or so of heating left to go.
  17. Beautiful sunny day! PDX up to 71 as of 4pm. Woodland leading the way in the Metro area at 73. Florence so far leading the way across the PNW at 75.
  18. The best day of the year so far! Nice day and the next 5 days highs should make it into the 70s. Weekend is looking gorgeous. Monday looks like the hottest day now.
  19. Well said Mattias! Weather is the main thing we talk about but other stuff like geography, climate, travel, food and culture is all connected. I have learned a ton not only about our own region but other regions around the world from these forums.
  20. This is what it says on Vital Choice. I also found where you can buy it online. It looks like any regular salmon with nice pink/red meat. It’s sourced from Russia though so I would be hesitant of buying anything from Putin. It’s out of stock anyways. “The taimen live in the frigid rivers of Siberia, spread across Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, and China. They are apex predators. Some historical accounts record Siberian taimen weighing more than 200 pounds. For comparison, the Alaskan king salmon typically tops out at about 50 pounds. The largest ever, caught in the Kenai River in 1985, weighed 97 pounds. Today’s anglers won’t be eating any taimen, as they’re legally protected, but we hear they are tasty, especially when fried and in soups, and especially when you’ve been wandering, starving, on the Siberian steppe.” https://www.vitalchoice.com/blog/monster-salmon https://gameat.me/catalog/p/18382-file_taymenya_kh_k_v_v_u/
  21. The newly released EURO AI model is not waiting around for next winter, it wants to try and bring in an Arctic Blast NOW!
  22. They have the Taimen Salmon, which is the largest species of salmon in the world. River Monsters did an episode in Mongolia about it.
