  1. http://i58.tinypic.com/35lenfk.jpg Other snow may "look the same," but insist on the original, the best, the snow of the Pacific Northwest.
  2. It's regrettably hard to measure snow when it comes in sideways all day. If I knew how to upload a video to this site from my iPhone, I'd show a 10-second clip of the blizzard conditions we had to endure in Battle Ground much of Thursday. As the precip enters a lull, I'd go with 6" of snow (estimated) with a high temp of 20F (not estimated).
  3. I was pretty excited at the prospect of snow but hadn't planned on it all caking on one side of the house. D**n east winds.
  4. NWS out of PDX is pretty gung ho for snow in the PDX/Vancouver area on Saturday. 3-7"? Maybe they pull the moisture out of a magic hat. I'll go with 1-3" and be happy to get it. If I'm wrong, I still win.
  5. I forgot it's not January anymore. Snowing nicely at 500' in Battle Ground, surprisingly heavy considering NEXRAD shows almost nothing.
  6. Now they'll shut half the schools and send everyone home for a dusting of snow. For almost nothing on the radar, I'm seeing some pretty heavy snow. Temp has dropped from 35F to 34F, and it's beginning to stick.
  7. FINALLY snowing at 500' in Battle Ground. I'm sure it won't last very long, but it's SO nice to see large flakes falling vertically.
  8. If for no other reason than the anticipation/buzz factor, we needed this! The rest of the country has experienced seemingly unprecedented cold while we've been thrown crumbs from the master's table. Our December blast was nice, but it left most of us wanting and expecting more.
  9. As always, moisture will be at a premium around 2/7 and 2/8. Going only by the 6z ensemble, it appears the cold will hang on until the 9th?
  10. http://i42.tinypic.com/i40jtc.png Quite a hefty inversion at PDX today at sunrise.
  11. Overnight low of 24F, not a drop or a flake in sight.
  12. I'm back too, but I'm not sure there was any demand. I think my last lament on the old board was whether we were going to stick a fork in the remaining months of winter. Something not scientific tells me to be optimisitc. I've had a few inches of snow here as late as the third week in March (2011?).
