Two years ago today the Arctic fart arrived that morning (facing East towards Chilliwack). Took this pic when there was temp was about 35F. Not a lick of wind until ~15 minutes later. By midnight it was down to 10F. -

The official snowfall for yesterday here at Grand Rapids was 3.4” it was a very wet snow as temperatures with around 34 during the snowfall but it was heavy enough to accumulate on the grass and there is around 1” of snow on the grassy areas. The overnight low did drop down to 26 here in my yard but there was not much I the way of new snow overnight and with a reading of 26 there is just very light snow falling here at 6:20 AM. We now have 10 days of January 2026 in the record books and the mean at Grand Rapids so far is a mild 30.4 that is a departure of +4.1° the highest reading so far is 60 on the 9th and the lowest is 8 on the 2nd there has been a total of 1.89” of precipitation that is +1.03” for the 1st ten days of the month. There has been 7.3” of snowfall that is exactly average for this far into the month. The official H/L yesterday at Grand Rapids was 35/28 there was 0.33” of precipitation and 3.4” of wet snow fall. The highest wind gust was 31MPH out of the W. Some weather history for January 11th 1918 A tremendous blizzard completely immobilized the Midwest, stopping mail service for two weeks. The vast storm then moved through the Great Lakes Region and the Ohio Valley. Winds reached 60 mph at Toledo OH, and the temperature plunged from 28 above to 15 below zero during passage of the cold front. Snow and high winds created blizzard conditions in northwestern Minnesota. Squalls produced heavy snow in parts of Upper Michigan and northern Lower Michigan, with 16 inches reported at Wakefield.
