November 2020 Observations and Discussion
OmahaSnowFan replied to Tom's topic in East of the Rockies
Warm this week, a possible snowstorm next week, and then flipping back to nice weather through Thanksgiving? Sign me up! Snow without the long lasting bitterly cold is perfect in my book. -

He was a politician. That should say it all. That being said, otherwise things definitely are going great on the planet.

Al Gore predicted there'd be no snow falling on the planet in the year 2020? Mmmm, I don't seem to remember that one.... Also not sure why you guys refer to Gore so much as if he's THE source of climate change information. I prefer to listen to what the actual majority of the scientific community and their current message says vs whatever Gore was claiming over a decade ago.

10/25-10/27 Winter Storm & Cold Snap
OmahaSnowFan replied to snowstorm83's topic in East of the Rockies
Measured between 1.5" and 1.75" at my place in northwest Omaha. Our streets are a sheet of ice which isn't surprising since they don't get treated. -
Crashed all the way down to 20.1 last night in my backyard. All the flowers and outdoor plants are officially fried!

Quickly turning into a nothing burger here.... Oh well, it is only October -
A couple days ago it was supposed to hit the mid 70s today and instead the high was 45.7 at about noon and now it's down to 40.3. Had light drizzle and mist all day only totaling .09" so far.

I appreciate the nice words, but there is no God or Jesus or whatever other imaginary invisible being you guys believe in. Think how disgusting an idea it is to believe that there is a being that just as one example, allows 220k people in just this country (1 million plus worldwide) die from a pandemic, the vast majority a slow, painful, inhumane death, and then when someone lives or makes a miraculous comeback, try to give credit to that imaginary thing for saving that life. Even worse when someone dies or lives, claim it's all "part of the plan" and to "trust him" or whatever other garbage response religion comes up with. At any rate, religion is a topic for another board.

I wish my 40 year old otherwise healthy friend and my 90 year old grandma who was supposedly safe in a locked down nursing home could say the same. But they're both dead from COVID.

Looks like no freeze here the next 7 days. Forecast to get to 33-34 a couple of times though so it’ll be close

32.7 on my backyard weather station this morning. Definitely cooler than forecasted low of 38. Thankfully not cold enough to kill the plants I didn't cover or pull in thinking they would be fine!

This all light brown color is all I saw too a couple of weeks ago when I was fishing. I know it’s been discussed on here before...

Looks to be close to a record high on Friday near 93, before it cools down next week. Still no precip. In fact this month, Omaha has only had 4 days of measurable precip and that was all with that stalled out system that brought our only rainfall this month. The next week looks dry so we should make it the entire month with only that system/rainfall. The 2nd severe weather season is about done here as well. Tonight Partly cloudy, with a low around 62. South wind 8 to 10 mph. Thursday Sunny, with a high near 85. South southwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Thursday Night Clear, with a low around 61. South wind 3 to 5 mph. Friday Sunny, with a high near 92. South wind 6 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Friday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. South southwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph. Saturday Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Saturday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. Sunday Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Sunday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 54. Monday Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Breezy. Monday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 54. Breezy. Tuesday Sunny, with a high near 69. Breezy. Tuesday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 46. Wednesday Sunny, with a high near 66. -

Yeesh. 9/18 18Z GFS has mid 90s to lower 100s at 1p on Saturday 9/26 across Nebraska and southeast SoDak. -
I didn't make one bc I don't pretend to be an expert on here. Each year when there's not an epic winter for you, you claim to have learned your lessons. Then the next fall you say it's another epic pattern for you and here comes the next mini ice age. I admit it does take courage to forecast epic winters for Arkansas or Oklahoma every winter. Most people call that being a snow weenie or wishcaster though.

You said this same thing last year.

Worst day for smoke here. We had a front move through and bring the smoke with it. Radiation is running under 1/2 the normal amount. You can really see the drop on my weather station.
