I’ve skyrocketed to 1 inch of new snow over the last 4 hours as the back edge rapidly approaches. Sigh...

0Z GFS with another turd for Nebraska. Man this epic pattern is going to drop 1-5” total over the entire state. Guess it’ll eventually be proven why 12”, 10”, or heck even 8” storms are so rare despite the totals that those 10 day clown maps on the long range models keep showing.

GFS looks further southeast here as well for Nebraska. Unbelievable.

Seems like every storm has been that way with model disagreement in the days leading up, then the models finally seem to agree on an area or amount the day before and then last minute there’s shifts or changes and they have to make changes and get yelled at by Joe Q Public. It’s been a tough year

I’m trying to remember, have we had only one Winter Storm Watch in eastern Nebraska this winter? I don’t believe Omaha has been under a warning. Next storm isn’t looking like anything too crazy either....

You know this amazing active pattern the next couple weeks will end up delivering like 5” total for Omaha and Lincoln!

Ha! So we’re down to a tenth or two on what’s supposed to be the bigger storm. My call for 1-3” is looking better every run.

Yuck. Another 1-3”er for me? Long ways away but that’s all I’ve received this winter. Had some close calls with bigger amounts near me, but it seems safe to go with the theme all winter. Last 6” snowfall at my place is now 3+ years ago

I love how the surface low track is about perfect on the GFS, but we still get nothing in Omaha

Omaha broke it’s record min high for today with a high of zero at the airport. My backyard made it to 3 above.

-15.8 was the low on my weather station. Could hear the popping and banging outside too. In fact someone posted in our neighborhood Facebook page asking if anyone else was hearing the noises that sounded like gunshots or fireworks. Should be all the way up into the 50s this weekend

-7.6 now. Love that link to the old chart: -33 current wind chill but -53 on the old one. Quite the difference!

On the “edge” of the cold here in Omaha(and that’s fine with me). Currently -5.6 on my weather station and with winds staying around 20 mph wind chills are “only” -25- to -30. Low tonight is supposed to be -13 with wind chills to around -35. Schools are closed for tomorrow. Just south of here it’s supposed to be colder with a deeper snowpack with forecast lows around negative 20. I only have about 2” of snow on the ground in my yard. Of note we were much colder here last New Years Eve(12/31/17) when we hit 20 below but with less wind

Sitting at 1.5 to maybe 2” here in north Omaha and that all fell this afternoon. Basically off and on flurries since then. Been very frustrating to see all the additional accumulating snow stay just south of me by maybe 10 miles in Omaha and points south/southwest of here.
