Is there really nobody here from the Treasure Valley? Would like to hear/see updates from there today and my brother will likely be working all afternoon/ evening and won't be able to update much. -

Verrado is nice too, but it's a much different feel than Estrella. You'd kinda have to spend a lot of time in both to figure out what you prefer. But yes, next time you are down, let me know and I can get you the exclusive tour -

Oh no kidding? It's a beautiful neighborhood. The clubhouses and pools are great during the summer. Didn't have it in the budget to put a pool in the backyard (though I did spring for a hot tub for Xmas), so the community pools are great. Just got my parents to relocate here as well. Grandkids have a lot of pull, or at least enough that he got my folks to leave Boise. Were you renting a place or do you know people down here? -

Sad Alaska/Horizon dumped them. I enjoyed flying in those, and especially the noise they made. Oh well. Maybe it is time to cut the plane talk as @snow_wizard requested, sad as it makes me. -

I'll take your word for it then! Might've been Q400's that have about 7 minutes, which would make sense since the service ceiling is 24k-25k feet. -

Hence the desire to burn as much fuel as possible, knowing you are ditching for sure and want to do that as low of a speed as you can. -

Right, not entirely sure how ETOPS would work in that situation. Oxygen masks definitely wouldn't last very long. It's generally gives enough time for the plane to drop to an altitude you can breathe at. I think the number I remember was 7 minutes but it definitely depends on the aircraft. -

I don't think a carrier would have quite enough runway. They'd unfortunately have to burn as much fuel as possible, so they'd probably try to determine what landmass they could actually get closest to. -

I don't even know what would happen. They'd have to descend to 10k feet or so, drastically decreasing fuel economy and possibly wouldn't be able to make it back to the departure airport or to the destination. -

Frontier A321 just had to go-around right in front of me as it had been following a Citation Latitude too closely on final. Sorry for the spam, but I figure if anyone could appreciate plane spotting, it's you lot. Blustery conditions and the contrasty background is making this fun. -
