  1. https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2021/07/17/atlantic-hurricane-season-update/ it’s looking like August will finally fire up some hurricanes once the High moves. Enjoy the calm while you can.
  2. Not bad there. We hit 95* and 47% humidity in Ft. Worth. Welcome to Texas.
  3. Posted on July 20, 2021 © 2021 by Linda Moulton Howe Heavy Rains and Deadly Floods in China Shut Down Subways and Trains. Scientists “Shocked and Alarmed.” “I have lived in Zhengzhou all my life and have never seen such a heavy rainstorm as today, July 20, 2021…” where passengers were trapped in waist-high water.” — Wang Guirong, restaurant manager in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China “I am scared that it seems to be happening so quickly. There have been seriously record-breaking events all over the world, within weeks of each other.” — Hayley Fowler, Ph.D., Hydroclimatologist, U. K. Newcastle University Henan Province (pale blue) in east central China in this Google Earth map has 94 million people. Zhengzhou is the ancient capital dating back to Neolithic times that had 10.35 million population in 2019. Heavy rain and flooding washed away trucks and cars and stopped train services on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, in China’s Henan Province where twelve people also died in the floods and 100,000 residents have been moved to “safe zones.” July 20, 2021 Zhengzhou, Capitol of Henan Province, China – This is China’s annual “rainy season,” but no one has been prepared for the nearly 8 inches of rain that fell in one hour on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, causing the Yellow River in Zhengzhou to overflow its banks. Ninety-four million people live in China’s Henan Province and heavy rainfall has now killed at least 12 people in the capitol while more than 100,000 people are now trying to survive in “safe zones.” Wang Guirong, a 56-year-old restaurant manager, said she planned to sleep on the couch in her restaurant after being told there was no power in her neighborhood. “I have lived in Zhengzhou all my life and have never seen such a heavy rainstorm as today … where passengers were trapped in waist-high water.” July 19-20, 2021 — Flooding Inside Zhengzhou Subway and Street Will the Xiaolangdi Reservoir Dam Collapse? The Chinese army contacted media to warn that the Xiaolangdi Reservoir Dam is badly damaged by the torrential rains and “could collapse at any time.” Evacuations around the dam have been ordered by the local government. “Shocking and Alarming” Intensity and Scale of Floods from China to Germany and Belgium Climate scientists say that the intensity and scale of the floods in Germany, Belgium and China this week are “shocking.” The record-breaking extreme heat, fire and rain records over such a wide area of Earth this soon in mid-2021 is alarming. Expressing his own surprise by how far the broken records are above previous records, Professor Dieter Gerten, an expert in global change climatology and hydrology at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany told U.K.’s The Guardian: “We seem to be not just above normal, but in domains we didn’t expect in terms of spatial extent and the speed with which it developed.” “I am scared that it seems to be happening so quickly,” said Hayley Fowler, a hydroclimatologist at Newcastle University in Britain. “There have been seriously record-breaking events all over the world, within weeks of each other.” https://www.earthfiles.com/2021/07/20/heavy-rains-and-deadly-floods-in-china-shut-down-subways/
  4. We’re in the same hot dull pattern. Nothing to report beyond that.
  5. A warm 78* this AM with humidity at 58%. Chance of rain this morning then here comes the heat. 91* for the high. It’s still summer. Update: As feared, rain was a no show!
  6. 78*. Two real nice showers today. That’s good as the next 10 days look to be mid 90’s/ high, low 70’s. No rain. Well, it IS summer.
  7. No Tx is seeing a small line of scattered rain move east. We’re sitting at 94 which is an average temp for us. July often hits us with temps near 100 so we’ll take this. I’m still curious if we’ll hit the century mark this year. It’s been quite different. Great to see rain though as the farmers get help and our water bill isn’t pegging the max. Overall a terrific summer so far.
  8. Spotting the first signs of activity on a record-setting comet of gargantuan size came down to a time-zone advantage. Astronomers in New Zealand were the first to spot a coma, or zone of gas and dust, spreading around the megacomet C/2014 UN271, also known as Bernardinelli-Bernstein, which may be 1,000 times more massive than a typical comet. It could be the most massive comet ever found in all of recorded history. https://www.space.com/amp/giant-comet-bernardinelli-bernstein-activity-beyond-saturn?__twitter_impression=true
  9. Abit of normal is actually comforting. When weather gets totally out of whack down here it’s unnerving.
  10. That would be normal for us. Some normal would be comforting. . This has been such an odd summer that returning to the shake and bake of Texas would be the good ol days.
  11. The worst heavy rains in 200 yrs have hit Germany, Belgium, and Netherlands. Devastating floods and mudslides have crippled the area. Just more unusual weather. This time it hit Western Europe. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/flooding-in-germany-europe-deaths-record-rainfall-western-europe-2021-07-16/?ftag=CNM-16-10abd6g
  12. I’ve done most of the posting here. Somewhere there are files going back 18 yrs or so. I’ve developed serious back and bone issues. Surgery, more to come. But the colder climate has my curiosity peaked so I’m reading. I also am a writer and I have another book to get out but I’ll be around.
  13. What a gorgeous July morning. Low to mid 80’s. Light wind. Perfect for Tx.! Next week I’ll see temps at 86 to 92*. Yeah! Texas in July. Possible showers. Amazingly crazy for the heat of our summer. We should be pushing the high 90’s. The plants are in heaven. Of course, the back side for this treat is the coming winter. I’m preparing for a butt kicker, including another failure of our electrical supply. I believe we are all experiencing the wrath of the sun and a Grand Solar Minimum. And I think we’re headed for a repeat of a kind of Little Ice Age. I don’t expect another typical Texas for the rest of my lifetime. I’m retired so that may not mean much to the young people on this site, but life is going to change for you too. Best get ready. Mother Earth is cyclic and your weather studies prove that. This colder era is just another cycle but it is sure to change our lives. My bet is we’re looking at 35-50 yrs of cooler temps on average. Just like this summer week.
  14. I love Flagstaff and the No Az area. It’s really stunning to see that area experience such wild weather. My husband wanted to move there but I cautioned him as I know huge changes are coming. I think we’ll see our climate change and swing to a colder wetter climate in areas that have not been like that in modern times. I know I’m seeing some concerning changes here in No Tx. We’re having a very unusual summer.
  15. Yeah. He explains in simple English what’s really going on. Anyone that studies this, even as an amateur, knows it’s not “global warming”. Particularly when icicles are dangling off your *****!!! It’s been clear to me since the 1990’s. Why can’t all these other so called sensible people catch on to the gaming of society?!
  16. Our rainforests are the lungs and pharmaceuticals of the planet. They’re a World Heritage and as such must be proactively protected. Good articles. Keep it up.
  17. I just don’t want to live without power like I did last winter. It just about put me in the hospital.
  18. Black Helicopters intercept child porn ??! Wow, big response. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/man-indicted-in-child-porn-case-that-closed-sunspot-solar-observatory-in-new-mexico/ar-BB17LqKq
  19. Robert based everything largely from his own perceptions and reading. Like many private researchers, he wasn't perfect but Robert brought people's attention to the change in the air, so to speak, that was coming literally decades before we began to see them. He was researching in the early and mid 90's. His global view was a reminder to me that what happens here, is only a small part of a very big picture that reaches out in the solar system and our planet is so heavily affected by that bright thing in the sky! I'm going to miss his posts.
  20. Really interested in this topic as after the trouble the Southern Plains got into last year, we are all experiencing some elevated anxiety. I’m worried about another Texas freeze and shut down.
  21. A young golfers golf ball was struck by lightning a split second after leaving the tee. This is why you don’t golf in the rain.
  22. No. Tx. Receiving heavy rain from the tail of the front. Very unusual to receive this sort of Fall like sweeping front in mid July. Heavy rain and thunder at this hour.
  23. D**n!!!! “On Friday, the temperature at Death Valley soared to 130 degrees, breaking the previous daily record high of 129 set back in 1913, according to the National Weather Service. This reading comes within 4 degrees of the all-time world record of 134 F set there in 1913. The 134-degree mark happens to be the world record for the highest temperature ever measured on Earth.” -Accuweather.com
