  1. We have a dusting here in NE Bellingham. Temp popped up to 32 at one point last night but is back down around 28-29 now
  2. I have to disagree! What the Euro tells me is that Portland is going to get even more snow this weekend. And it's going to be even more epic-er than the January event. Dare I say...it will be YUUUUGEE!!!! Biggest Snowstorm ever! 1.5 million inches!
  3. Wow, the wind kicked up here in Bellingham rather suddenly between 6:30 and 7, and the temp went from 40-54 at my place in the span of an hour.
  4. That's awesome, I've been meaning to drive down and check it out. Might have to do that this morning!
  5. Went duck hunting out on the Skagit flats this afternoon. The ponds out there had a good 4-6" if ice (we busted a hole to see if we were gonna be able to break it up enough to float our decoys). When we figured out how thick it was we had to get creative, that said, we sat out on the ice for a good 3-4 hours with no issue. It got a little thin where the cat tails were really thick but otherwise, it didn't even really creak or groan under me and I am pushing 280# Quite the cold raw day out there, and tough the get the ducks in with all the ice, but still we managed to get 4 close enough to bring them down.
  6. Just a dusting here near the Britton Rd fire station. I think Tweed Twenty did a little better. Had to drive through there last night to pick up my son. If I called what I got .5" then they probably got 1.5-2" Amazing what 100-200 feet of elevation will do. Heck the highest point on my street is maybe 40-50 feet higher than my house and I could see a difference (sidewalk completely covered vs being "mostly" covered
  7. Oh I'm pretty sure there will be some folks going out and getting plowed tonight!! It has stopped precipitating in my neck of the woods for the time being, looks like another slug of moisture is about to move in off the water...radar shows it as rain, hopefully it will fall as snow once it hits land... went from 35-33 from 3-4 this afternoon, been stuck at 33.2 since then. We got a dusting on the grass and cars, but I think it has pretty much melted off....
  8. I have a friend who has a friend....I'll make a call and see what we can do about getting that cold through customs!
  9. Just drove to the store, and for those familiar with Bellingham, it is accumulating quickly up to Hwy 542 (Mt Baker Hwy) Immediately to the north it is snowing but nothing is sticking This is at the entrance of my neighborhood, and about 40 minutes after it finally started sticking.
  10. Just switched to full snow here in my neck of the woods, and it is accumulating on the street and grass. The temp is at 33
  11. Forget the models and indices, wild hairs and gut feelings....it will snow this weekend, and I will tell you why I know that as fact... You know how it always seems to rain after you wash your car? Well I "de-crudded" my car and garage today. I rinsed the garage floor to get rid of the remnants of all the melted slush from my car, and I busted out the power washer to clean all the cracks/crevices and underside of the car from all the crap they put on the roads. I have a white car now (haven't had a white car in over 20 years) and I could not stand the filth any more... So anyway, there you have it! You can thank me later!
  12. Got down to 10 here last night, and getting some very light flurries now. I would not mind getting a bit more snow before this round comes to an end.
  13. How does the set up look for Whatcom County this weekend? I have relatives coming in tomorrow and flying back out on Sunday. They will have kittens if they are not able to fly out on Sunday.... Anyway, I was trying to figure out if this is a scenario like last weekend where the cold air got scoured out everywhere except Whatcom and points north....
  14. I didn't have time to measure the snow because I had to get my daughter to work, but if I had to guess, I would say I got about 2". There is noticeably less snow down the hill from me where I work (Barkley area) but still a decent amount
  15. Wow...went outside at 1215am and it was sleet/freezing rain (starting to accumulate) Got buried in my computer then looked outside at 1255am and everything is completely white and it is DUMPING!! Tried to get pics but my windows have water drops all over them and I'm not interested in going outside and getting zapped awake by the cold as I am on my way to bed. I will post pics in the morning. Hopefully this keeps up. I don't want to look at the radar....
  16. Yeah I was watching it earlier this afternoon and the boundary was about 5 miles north of my house. I got busy doing projects and forgot about it. I walked by my weather station a few minutes ago and was surprised to it at 33.2 after it has hovered around 40-42 most of the day. Looks like we went from 40-33 in about 1 hr. The BLI/Bellis Fair spread is quite impressive....
  17. temps here in NE Bellingham made it to 30, and now back down to 28.8. I doubt we have more than 1" - 1.5" at my house. I would love to get more but will take what I can get!
  18. Still holding at around 25-26 at my house, with the wind still out of the NE. It pretty much stopped snowing but is looks like another band will hit in the next few hours. It will be interesting to see if we experience the same warm up that is happening to the south...
  19. Very light fairy flurry dust finally at my house. Gotta get up at 5:30 so I can't watch it transition to to real deal, but at least I have something to look forward to when I wake up!
  20. Peaked at 30 today IMBY on the NE side of Bellingham, back down to 24 now. We bottomed out at 20 this morning.
  21. Nothing in my neck of the woods. I looked at the traffic cams about a half hour ago and it looks like north of Ferndale is doing fairly well.... I think Yew St. Hill was getting something earlier this morning (no surprise there)
  22. Just stumbled across this little gem from the 3am AFD.... From the Long Term: "...The European model (ecmwf) retains its usual panache for being faster...wetter and more soul-crushing...." Never thought of the Euro as being a "soul crusher" LOL!
