  1. I've worked retail for 26 years. It has gotten way earlier. But guess what, as soon as it's out, people are buying it. That's why it keeps getting put out. We sell through 80% of our holiday stuff long before the holidays.
  2. Eeked out a sunrise just before the rain. It was raining as I was headed back to the car.
  3. I flew out to Alaska for the first time that morning. Roads weren't bad, they got worse. My car was stuck at work until I got home. I remember the WSW and Blizzard Warnings for the gorge as I was up in crystal clear Petersburg.
  4. Drove down to the Columbia River this morning. Always love watching the sun rise for the first of the year. Still cloudy at home after my coldest low of the year so far, 38.4.
  5. It's amazing, though I could see how it'd be quite depressing in fall and spring with a lot of cloudy and dark days. Moving all that snow must be a great work out!
  6. Most blue sky I've seen here since the 20th...and no I wasn't driving.
  7. A few sunbreaks and I bumped up to 58.5. Feels just like spring.
  8. Yes KPTV had a forecast of 54 today. PDX has been up to 48/49, I'm at 47. Better than nothing. Now 20 degrees colder pplease.
  9. I think the bigger issue, at least in Clark County is that when a development goes in, 9 times out of 10 every single tree is mowed down and houses are built feet apart. There seems to be no regard for incorporating existing vegetation etc. I live in a development and I've looked at google earth many times and have seen what use to be. But...it's a double edged sword. I hate logging, but realize we have to have it for housing and many other things, I also realize that a lot of the hikes I love our accessed via logging roads.
  10. Another foggy December morning, 40 degrees. Yesterday was about as typical of a NW Christmas you get, 44, light rain, drizzle, gusty east wind by the gorge. Sitting at 11.08" for the month, 52.19" for the year. It was 28 years ago today I first installed a weather station at my dad's! Pretty impressive!
  11. My favorite fog photos...it was so calm at Vancouver Lake.
  12. Pouring rain and 46 here. Pressure is pretty low to at 29.42". 0.28" so far.
  13. 54 was the predicted high, 46.6 was the actual today...nice to see finally.
  14. Started with a bit of fog this morning and 33, now the east wind is blowing, beautiful sunshine and 52. A nice break after the 10" of rain that has fallen this last couple of weeks.
  15. Light flooding back into the evenings now. The sun set one second later tonight, tomorrow we gain 4 seconds!
  16. 9.40" for me for December. Been 13 years today since I got my station up and running in Battle Ground. www.wrh.noaa.gov/mesowest/getobext.php?sid=E2837&table=1&banner=off
  17. 4.11" for this storm, that was very impressive!
  18. 2.68" yesterday, for a monthly record. Mean temp of 58.6, also a monthly record. Sitting at almost 6" for the month, 1" shy of the monthly average.
